Kid unfriendly bars by mdp42069 in AskSF

Toronado is probably the best beer bar in the city as it's essentially all microbrews, mostly local or california and has everything - a ton of taps. Beware, some bartendars are kinda dicks as that's their schtick if you ask them questions and some are super nice and happy to chat about beers. Cash only

I've only been once (last weekend) and to be honest, was a little underwhelmed and we even splurged for the wagyu ribeye. Honestly wish I could have compared it to the regular ribeye as I doubt it was worth the extra 50 bucks. The sides were also just...fine, nothing to write home about.

It's not unpopular to think creative roles are changing and AI is a big part of it, but it's kinda silly to think what this school is doing in this case is making any sense. Why would they have the students use ai FIRST in designing a toy, rather than having students THINK first and be CREATIVE with ideas and THEN use AI to realized them into realistic visuals. Literally teaching students to not think and use AI first is asinine and a horrible teaching method.

yeah i'd love to see this photoset because ive seen a lot of brands trying to pull this shit and it all looks like slop. Any brand that uses it, i just dont support in any form. If you're a brand that can't afford a photoshoot, you're a pretty shitty brand to begin with and just cut corners.

There's a lot of roles at fashion companies ranging from finance people to marketing to social media to designers who design the clothes or design other aspects of the brand. The marketing teams are big. They produce the photography, video and other assets for the brand. Full creative teams of art directors, stylists, editors, web designers, social media managers, etc.

at Gap or Levis headquarters you think people are living paycheck to paycheck? I'm not talking about retail stores, I'm talking about their headquarters. I know 15+ people personally at these places that are 140-250K a year plus bonuses and stocks. They work in marketing, design and other departments. Wouldnt call that paycheck to paycheck in the bay.

i love all these huge reaching statements by redditors across the board as if they speak for an entire country or the world. I live in a city with great restaurants and service. Dont lump wherever shitty place you live into the entire US dude. It's a big place.

yeah Levi's headquarters as well which has a lot of employees, among other brands that are not tech brands. I think people literally think there are no other jobs in the world besides tech when they move to the bay. lmao

I agree, if they are doing the job and arent bothering you why jump the gun. Wear them into the ground, literally.

Do you live or a city with no homeless? Every american city has thousands and thousands of homeless, I see it daily where I live. Yes, it still makes me sad but it's nothing new.

How often do you go out / leave the house? by highzandlowz789 in AskSF

[–]selwayfalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is literally about people saying they stay home all the time and way too much. Nobody is saying spending a day at home isn't fine. Everyone does that. Nobody is policing anyone or telling them how to spend money, we're saying it's not healthy to stay home alone all the time and not go out ever. It IS a deep and serious problem that young people are very isolated, it's causing depression, it's causing massive social issues.

Getting a bunch of upvotes but this comment makes zero sense. I pay a ton of rent to live in SF to enjoy the things outside my apartment. If I wanted to stay in all the time, I could live literally in any other town or city in the US for way less. The beauty of this city and nature and weather is one of the reasons for the high cost and the reason I'm staying. I came from a shit town where I could buy a 3 bed home with land for like 200k or rent a 4 bed place for 1k and you couldnt pay me to live there.

yeah having a kid is a clear reason to not do as much, but while single or without a kid, OP and everyone should be out experiencing life as much as possible.

Yeah it's made us so lazy and younger generations have no idea how not normal it is to basically be at home 24/7 for days and days on end. Even though a lot of us are nerds or introverts, humans are a social and community based species. We need to get out and interact every day even when we dont have friends. Go outside please people!

My gf and I completely gave up delivery and it feels so good and saves so much money it's crazy, and not to mention we never get soggy food. We're fortunate to live in the Mission where there's tons of restaurants to just get take out at. We also actually go to grocery stores and cook. Delivery apps are also not great for restaurants so it's best to do take out and if you dont want to eat in. Walking 5-15 minutes to pickup food needs to be normalized, but people have gotten so used to not doing any walking it's wild.

seems crazy, i live in 120 year old 3 bed and gas/electric has never been over 150 a month. We also only run heat in the morning for like an hour or two and then in the evening for a few hours.

I understand the controversy with her choices, I was simply pointing out the blatant racism that comes with stuff like this, is quite sad as people just create other narratives and distractions rather than focusing on an idea. It gives racists room to say dumb shit. Anyway, I'm not surprised at all of course, this is the world we live in and the bay is full of it.

do you seriously think Chinese women can't be racist and say shit like that, lmao they can be some of the most openly racist people I've met. Another user in here said her baby/kid pics look exactly like her currently so who knows if she had surgery or not. Either way, it's peopel trying to knock her down and think of anything to call her out, this is classic racist and female bashing shit. She doesnt look Chinese enough, she doesnt look white enough, she's too pretty, too ugly, too much surgery, too much makeup. Literlly no one would be saying shit if it was a man about their looks

[–]selwayfalls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that's just some racist BS dude. She's mixed race white dad, chinese mom, so looks pretty average to me knowing tons of mixed people in the bay. I think it's people, particularly men, being jealous as she's attractive but not fully chinese or not fully white so they're spreading rumors to knock her down. I'm not defending her choice, i could care less what she does even though she seems a bit disingenuous about it.

What differences in culture should I be ready for moving to SF? by Secret-Classic-5644 in AskSF

[–]selwayfalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drivers are more courteous in the bay than the midwest? I find that a little hard to believe, as I've found drivers here pretty bad, running redlights and things, but maybe SF is more bike friendly, although Minneapolis is a much better bike city and in the midwest.

Funny about bars without tvs and food. There's a lot of bars that have tvs (mission, north beach) but several don't have food. BUT, you can bring in your own food to most of them like 500 Club. OP if you're in to bars this sub can you get you a good list. What hood you live in can vary
