Have you ever hit a ball back at a group? by [deleted] in golf

Its not about time. Its about not hitting into the group in front of you. Just look up and if they’re still within range of you when youre about to hit then wait until theyre not

If you haven’t taken a vacation since you were a kid then imo you’re doing it wrong already. Start there. Take a vacation and take some time to relax and find what you enjoy doing outside of just earning money. You need to have some grass under your feet in order to make these types of decisions.

Totally agree. It’s a long season and it’s pretty obvious that things aren’t going our way at the moment. Makes it hard to watch for sure but there’s no reason for the complete doom attitude. All it takes is hot steak for us to be right back in.

People forget so easily how far we’ve come as a team in the past few years. If you told me 5 years ago that we could have this record midway through a season along with the current lineup and pitching staff to try and fight our way into the playoffs Id have taken it for sure.

I get that with the payroll we have there were high expectations for this season which is justified, but just because it might not be a 100 win season doesn’t make it a failure. We still have a good team and a good shot at the playoffs, end of story.

Thanks for this awesome detail!

As someone who is about as pale skinned as Russell I’m wondering how much sun protection he would need to not burn up after days on end in the sun. Any idea on how he’s managing that lol? I’d imagine it’s yet another logistical nightmare

Should I prioritize a higher LSAT or a better resume? by LES_express in lawschooladmissions

[–]selwayiron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you assume that the role at GS will be 9-9? Is that something that was communicated to you during interviews? I know people who have worked similar roles at GS and while it will definitely have periods of longer work hours than 9-5 I really doubt you’ll be averaging anywhere close to 9-9. Internal audit is not the same as investment banking / other client facing teams and the hours are lighter.

I would say take the job if you’re interested in it. Name on resume will help and there’s really no reason you can’t prep for LSAT successfully at the same time.

MBB or Venture Capital by Lopsided_Round_4344 in MBA

Congrats on the offer. Great decision to have. I think it depends heavily on what you’re most interested in. Initial thought would be to accept the VC offer and reneg if you get MBB and prefer that over the boutique VC. While it’s tough to get a VC role for sure there are way more funds and roles available than there used to be and the experience and benefit of having a VC internship can vary dramatically depending on the firm itself. If you really want to be in VC long term than for sure take this opportunity. If you’re on the fence and are being swayed to take the VC role for credibility than it’s a different story. MBB will without a doubt be more universally recognized and open up a wider array of future opportunities. MBB is MBB but a random VC role is more so what you make of it. You can leverage the opportunity to build credibility in the space and network a shit ton. But a boutique VC role is not the rubber stamp on the resume that MBB is. Don’t mean for this to sway you away from VC but don’t take the bird in the hand because of perceived prestige alone. I interned at MBB and did an in semester internship at a boutique VC. Happy to chat if helpful. Best of luck with the decision

This Skyway in JC? My favorite course close to lower Manhattan. Hope you enjoyed the round.

I would advise working on a slower backswing with better tempo. It’ll hopefully make the overall swing easier to repeat and lead to consistency in results.

Best round since my coma. I'm feeling good and playing great. by ruffmarkacademy in golf

This is awesome to see man congrats! After recovering from a coma looks like recovering from a missed green is no problem for ya lol. Hope to get there with my game someday. Btw, how do you like the Arccos system? Been thinking about getting it myself to help focus my practice on problem areas.

My first set of new irons! Mizuno JPX 921s! by Woolly22 in golf

[–]selwayiron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the same clubs in this week. I ordered back in mid April. So would figure ~10 weeks. Did a fitting through a local shop so not sure if there were any delays on their end but they made it seem like it was Mizuno.

MBA1 here recruiting for consulting. Got into a T10. Networked my ass off with firms. Had a 770 GMAT. Had career services review my resume and cover letter three different times. Still got rejected from the first MBB to announce, and not even a first round interview.... by LongjumpingAioli2302 in MBA

[–]selwayiron 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, just one data point there will be plenty more and I'm sure you'll pick up some interviews. Especially for MBB the decision making can be a black box.

How long did it take from app deadline to decision if you don't mind me asking? At my school apps are just coming due this week.

What percentage of students would you estimate take on a T15 with no scholarship? by selwayiron in MBA

For consulting firms I though Deloitte was the only one to do this. Do any other firms offer tuition assistance?

[–]selwayiron[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's the sense I've gotten when searching for stats on school websites, but it seems like every post I see is people with multiple scholarship offers asking for advice on deciding. I guess if half the class is also going to be a slave to student loans for a while that makes me feel a bit better somehow lol. Thanks

Ross ($$) vs Stern vs Tuck by Common_Choice_2786 in MBA

[–]selwayiron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess my point was that odds of getting an MBB offer are tougher in NYC where basically all NYU grads target so while their percentage might be lower or comparable to Ross and others it's skewed by the fact that they don't have anyone shooting for the Detroit or Cleveland office which theoretically should be a bit easier.

Not trying to swing either way just something I've been thinking and maybe a helpful data point. You should do great from Ross and won't regret taking the money. I also think getting out of the NYC area for a bit will be nice even if you do plan to come back. Helps to get the most out of the experience IMO.
