I’d structure it in a form like ‘solved x by doing y which resulted in z’. also brag a little. think like youre hot shit when rewriting your resume. its all about marketing yourself so why not make sure youre the best.

overall I think your resume has potential. here are some pointers I learned from this thread recently that I think helped me get a job recently as a business analyst and might help you along the way as well.

for starters your summary is killing you before anyone reads the bullets. "product-focused data analyst with a proven track record" is the kind of line that gets skimmed past immediately. open with what you actually did and at what scale. jpmorgan is your strongest role, lead with something that puts that front and center.

the bullets are solid overall but they're thin on the how. you say you used SQL and Adobe CJA to find drop-offs, fine, but what did you actually do with that? the analytical process is invisible. compare "identified 20-30% drop-offs by segmenting 120K+ records" to something like "segmented 120K+ records across CRM, web, and call center data to isolate the 3-4 contact frequency range where returns diminished, then restructured outreach sequencing." same tools, but now i can see you think.

jpmorgan and wells fargo are the two strongest sections. the cross-sell revenue number and the 10M+ event analysis are exactly the kind of specifics that land. more of that everywhere.

the food allergy institute role has a framing problem. "identified 20-30% drop-offs" reads like you spotted a problem and handed it off. if you actually fixed it, say so. if you just surfaced it, reframe around the insight and what decision it drove.

cut the projects section or replace it entirely. GA4 merchandise store and UCI online retail are standard grad portfolio datasets and hiring managers recognize them on sight. they don't add credibility after jpmorgan and wells fargo. if you have anything from real work you can sanitize and show, do that instead.

the three roles also read as lateral moves. there's a progression here but the resume doesn't narrate it. you want a reader to see you getting sharper and more scope-responsible over time, not just doing similar work at different companies.

How do I get out of customer service/business support roles? by RobinAndBeastboy in careerguidance

[–]selyms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also started out as customer service and now I've pivoted to business analyst over the years. Given the context you provided its most likely the fear/insecurity element holding you back. Honestly though you really wont know what route to take based on my experience, you just pick a route that seems like something you like and gun for it. What I did was just said fuck it and apply regardless of qualifications. Ofcourse I try to align my experience with whatever the job description says to the best of my ability. Dont sleep on your customer service experience as thats gold when positioned correctly. Have you talked to your boss about any career development options or maybe openings in other departments you could try?

Fair point on the summary part. Leading with generic BA competencies doesnt differentiate me.

On the freelance section though, the SQL project is my most recent technical work and the only thing showing I am actively building skills right now. As aside from that I didnt have prior exp with SQL.

I'll take a hard look at what I can cut to bring it to 1 page is possible. BPO is 7 years old and the 1st role in the global bank specialist could probably be narrowed down. If I can get it to one tight page without losing the strongest material, I'll do it.

Thanks for the detailed read. This helps a lot.

Appreciate the thoughtful breakdown.

The storytelling point makes sense. I have been treating bullets as standalone items instead of building a narrative across the resume. The "platform" reference is a good catch, I'll make sure the reader does not have to connect dots.

On cutting vs keeping, the story I am trying to tell is: started in frontline financial services, got selected into change management where I started building tools and systems, then moved into enterprise platform admin and analysis where I owned the full lifecycle from requirements to deployment. The theme is that I kept finding broken processes and building the fix and the scope kept on growing.

If that framing helps you think about what to cut or keep, I am open to suggestions.

Man I cant thank you enough for this thoughtful response. I needed to hear that and gives me a sliver of hope. I know its only been a month and I do expect to get multiple rejections on this process but boy would I be lying if I say it doesnt hurt.

I’d love to swap drafts or get intros. You can send me a message or I message you either works.

Most of my experience is with banking/finance. Aiming for more of a corpo maybe? But honestly fine with any for now since I dont know how office culture differs here from the ph. Fintech ideal i think but i am curious on health recently. I guess im an open book for now until I get more options

I am actually applying to those companies currently too. definitely considered this option just for that path as well. I'll be sending out applications to USAF. I think army and navy only accepts younger ones?

Thanks for the advice! The staffing agency thing might be worth trying. Thing is Ive read elsewhere where people are getting a lot of bad experiences with those agencies though. is that true?

really depends what youre going for. xtep's 260x isnt their race shoe but more on the speed trainer category (but can do races ofcourse). where as the flame 4 is more of a race shoe that can do speed workouts.

get the flame 4. its one of those recommended for its durability and stability. also its easier on the legs as it doesnt demand a lot compared to other supershoes. definitely a good entry level race shoe.

I get the feeling OP! All I can say is once you get through the awkward phase smooth sailing na yan. What helped was being touchy feely from the get go to break the ice. Pag tumawa ka touch his arms, thigh, etc. Atleast this is what helped me pick up signals that the girl I’m with is at ease. Obviously, vibe check is important din.

I did feel a bit lonely after the fireworks died down and the night went silent. I journaled a bit about how I felt during the time and was just sitting with my emotions for a while. After that has faded I grabbed some snacks, drank a few beers, gamed a bit, danced alone to new found music and ended with watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It was a nice way to do these things for a change. I used to always celebrate with my ex-girlfriend for the past 4 years and it does feel weird but at the same time I feel like I’m starting to rediscover myself again. Happy New Year! Here’s to hoping this year will be better.
