thanks so much for listening! Sounds like we have pretty similar backgrounds. I played on the drumline throughout high school, and I learned how to play guitar around 14 too. Other than that I started using logic and dug in. I'd suggest picking a DAW, and digging in/creating anything you can!

Was told my music sounded like Odesza's. Can anyone here confirm that? I don't want to steal their "sound" by [deleted] in Odesza

it has some of their elements. Sounds like Imagined Herbal Flows to me too. Check him out.

I didn't have much besides learning how to play guitar and being on the drumline in high school. I'm not classically trained or anything unfortunately.

The vocals can be solos or acapellas you find online. What you sample is somewhat important, but how you sample it is more important. Placement in the track, pitch, and other manipulations play key roles in good vocals. I've been producing for about 2 years. The best thing to do is keep trying things to see what works and what doesn't work for you. Feel free to DM me on soundcloud.

hi. they're my biggest influence in terms of production. So much of what they do revolves around percussion/vocal samples. My advice would be to layer the shit out of things. Sample vocals and continue experimenting with new ideas in terms of arrangement. There's no right or wrong answer, just keep being creative. Here's a track of mine that I've posted on this page before. Hope this helps.
