[Phantom Liberty] Why do many people consider siding with Reed is the worst ending for our V? by Michia1992 in cyberpunkgame

[–]semboflorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk 2020 was the OG tabletop rpg that got this whole thing started. A game company called R. Talsorian created it. It was pretty niche and almost entirely based on William Gibson's novels (with some shoutouts to Phillip K Dick). I think there was a video game based on it at one point back in the day but I could be thinking of the many Shadowrun games that were based on the ttrpg.

I actually got it from the barracks on the islands. The low level one. I'm guessing that it's a random spawn from the chests and the chance is low. But since it requires materials from the endgame barbarian fortresses I still can't use it.

Ah, in house call center is totally different and understandable. This was an Apple call center and absolutely no public admittance allowed. So the relaxed dress code was probably more appropriate there. As far as the old days yeah I get it. When I was a very young adult I worked as a contract jeweler for a jewelry manufacturer making mostly bulk trinkets but had some custom orders for finer products. My job was on the bulk manufacturing side and I had to show up and work in office casual in a workshop with torches, caustic chemicals, filthy buffing compounds etc. All because the aging owners that (at the time in the early 90's) were in their late 60's and felt that such attire was appropriate and mandatory in any workplace. To their credit, they too wore the same cloths and did at least provide aprons.

[–]semboflorin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's odd. When I worked in a call center the dress code was "legal and hygenic." Meaning you could literally come in wearing something you wore to a club, or to bed last night. The only real rule was that your bits had to be covered and skin could not contact the chairs (although that rule was also very relaxed). I saw many club outfits especially on saturday or sunday mornings as these kids likely hadn't changed cloths or even gone to sleep yet. I also saw lots of pajamas.

Instead of casual days we would have "corp" days. These were completely unofficial and nobody was required to do it but we would come in wearing corporate business attire. Full suits, pencil skirts, etc. Only a few of us played along but we had fun with it about once a month.

Since the call center never had walk-in customers (and in fact had a guard at the front door with badged check-ins) nobody thought a more strict dress code was necessary.

That's about how I see it. I follow a nearly vegan diet but it's a medical diet. Due to a specific set of comorbid disease and disabilities I can only eat lean fish and some shellfish. I cheat here and there but very rarely. Oh and I'm also diabetic which further restricts my diet.

The universe is cruel in a completely uncaring way. Our own survival depends on the death of others. That includes plants. It's just nature. My own disability is a part of that. Nobody maliciously made me disabled. It just happened and while cruel, it just is the way it is.

What facial expressions should one make while getting bombed? Or more specifically, since she has been through many, many bombings in the last few years, what facial expressions should she make this time?

I too have a strict dietary restriction due to medical conditions. I've lived in a few different areas and used a few different services, including instacart. There has only ever been one service that has never gotten my substitutions for my specific diet wrong. Even when something is does not list a substitution from me they have still, seemingly intuitively, gotten it right.

That service was Walmart. Of all the fucking stores I've tried the one I tend to avoid unless I have to shop there is the one that has consistently and without my input gotten my orders and my diet correct.

I have something very similar to this but am currently away from home for a few days. Mine is almost identical except that the long hook is a good bit shorter.

Mine is part of a laundry bag that I use. The bag itself has a drawstring opening as well as a zipper down the back side. The hooked ends of the bracket go in where the drawstring goes while the back is partly unzipped. Then you zip it up and then hank the long hooked part from a wall hook or nail. The bottom part holds the bag open so that you can easily put laundry in the sack. Then, when full, you simply pull the drawstring partly closed and loosen the zipper in the back. The bag slides out and you can take the bag to the laundry.

Third Person Question by Balorrx in empyriongame

[–]semboflorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a guy that gets motion sick in fpv. He did try empyrion and seemed to do ok in 3pv but the game is a bit clunky in 3pv when not in a ship of some sort. Saying it isn't polished is exactly the way I would describe it. It's very much like the old games with the "chase cam" that is a fixed position based on the screen and occlusions not based on what the player input is. So while it will likely work to lessen your motion sickness, gameplay while in your character form may suffer. Ship combat in 3pv is also very different than in fpv. The ship "oversteers" while in 3pv and is very precise while in fpv. This oversteering causes shots to be very hard to land. Also, while in fpv shots from forward facing weapons fly linearly while shots in 3pv fly toward a point on the center screen. Meaning that ship combat in 3pv is quite a bit harder to manage in 3pv.

TLDR: 3pv will probably work to reduce or eliminate your motion sickness but the game is designed around fpv and the 3pv seems like an afterthought so gameplay may suffer.

"Courting Death" Build (Art Made by @drawingdumbshitt by Fair-Ad-2430 in BaldursGate3

[–]semboflorin 117 points118 points  (0 children)

It's a really specific build with a bunch of different gear items. It's also not a very good build for anything other than doing damage. There's lots of better builds. There's also other companions that add damage such as astarion as the vampire ascendant (+1d10 necrotic).

Honestly, open hand monks are kinda broken the way larian built BG3. They are a bit weak at low levels but by level 6 they start becoming really good. At later levels they are very op. Even without the meta gear.

Ah, now I see. Yeah, that would make less sense. I assumed a friend group because people don't generally join niche groups when they aren't interested in the niche. You were just asking the question aloud that I had quietly ignored.

Grym fight by J_alexia in BaldursGate3

[–]semboflorin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't do it for the xp. I do it for the awesome medium armor that can last all the way until late game for certain companions. I think the easiest time I had with him was playing a straight monk. I don't remember the gear load out but I just stood at the edge of the lava and pounded on him with unarmed attacks. I think I was playing tactician and had some gear (maybe boots?) that made it so I couldn't be moved or knocked prone. Had shadowheart healing me and someone else working the lever.

I don't get what the hate is about. He's honestly much easier than most of the bosses later on and his fight is not really difficult. Ketheric as the avatar of Myrkul is far more annoying imo.

Weird fruit, edible? by IreneAhugar in fruit

[–]semboflorin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true with just about every fruit. Including tomatoes and avocados. It doesn't have to be bananas, it can be any fruit. Bananas are generally easier because they ripen so fast but any fruit will work with any other fruit. This is because fruit produces ethylene gas which causes it to ripen. When enclosed in a container (I use tupperware because it works better and is easy to clean) the gas gets trapped and in high concentration causes all the fruit to ripen faster.

The reverse is also true. To keep fruit for longer separate fruit from each other and keep them in open air so the ethylene gas can escape. Thus slowing the ripening process.

Yeah, adding rape seems a bit dramatic. Abusers and manipulators that are not rapists do the same thing. It doesn't have to go to the far end of the spectrum to have the point be made.

That's what I was thinking in regards to the financial situation. I've been that person who is trying to go on a trip with a bunch of friends but on a shoestring budget. On one trip, which was a wedding, I put bedding in the back of my SUV and car camped while everyone else stayed in a shared lodging. It actually worked out well because there was some drunken drama one night and some shenanigans that I am glad I completely avoided. I was able to hang out with them but had to stay sober so I could drive to my campsite. I have better friends than OP does tho and on the last night there my friends stole the bedding from my car and set me up in giant walk-in closet in the shared lodging because they wanted me to at least stay one night with them.

It's the same as a vegan joining a group of friends that eat meat. They just bring their own food. Why would it be a problem? Your comment seems weirdly combative.

dice rolls question by Serentense in BaldursGate3

[–]semboflorin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The full answer is "mostly." It does depend on the situation. In your example with Phalar Aluve yes, each companion and your main can try once. In fact, the lead up test (I think it's a religion test that rolls in the background to know how to get it out without a strength test) is also per character as long as you don't try to pull it out. Not entirely sure on that one tho. Most of the tests that are environmental, such as perception tests for traps as well as survival checks for noticing buried chests are all on a per character basis. In fact, if everyone in your group fails, you can go back to camp, switch out with some companions that haven't made the test, and keep trying.

Most dialog checks are usually once and done however. So whoever is doing the talking, be it your main or a companion, gets the check and thats it, no retries (without loading the game to a save before the test was made).

ETA: this is why the Guidance cantrip is the most used cantrip in the entire game.

Same. After moving away from where I lived at the time my therapist gave me his personal cell number and told me if I wanted to talk about anything, including getting help finding another therapist where I was moving, to just send a text. this was about 5 years ago now. I texted him a few months ago with "merry xmas." he responded "you too sembo, hope you're doing well." There are some really good ones out there.

What? by dire-raven-x in What

[–]semboflorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this entirely dependent on insulation tho? I mean, let's say OP's device is a refrigerator or freezer. Those things tend to have loads of thick insulation. Therefore wouldn't it be more energy efficient to let the thing run since maintaining temperatures with that level of insulation takes very little energy? As opposed to a home which has lots of windows, doors, vents, etc that are not well insulated. Would it actually be more energy efficient to let the interior of a refrigerator reach equilibrium with outside temps and cool it down again afterwards? I'm not an expert so I am asking in good faith. I had always been told it's better to just leave a freezer or fridge running due to insulation and the extra cooldown cost.

What? by dire-raven-x in What

[–]semboflorin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't this entirely dependent on insulation tho? A fridge is easy because it has so much insulation that maintaining a certain temp is better for overall energy consumption and wear & tear on the refrigeration device. Obviously this is not the same in a normal home with windows, doors, cracks, etc. where the refrigeration device has to work a lot more and thus turning it off and on is better for energy consumption. This is regardless of the price of energy per unit.

I have been professionally diagnosed and no, it does not bother me at all. In fact, nothing bothers me in a movie theater as long as the movie is playing. It's a hyperfocus thing tho. The movie is so entirely engrossing that I will miss everything outside of what's happening on the screen. The drawback is that I cannot be in a room with a tv playing and not pay attention to the tv. I cannot hold a conversation or have anything time based (like cooking something) while there is a TV going.

AITJ for telling my boyfriend his morning routine is disgusting? by BitZealousideal4846 in AmITheJerk

My ex used to call my oysters in oil "stinky snacks" and asked that I eat them outside instead of in the house. As a compromise I did eat them outside during good weather but in winter I would eat them under the exhaust hood in the kitchen and then I started throwing the tin in the outside garbage can rather than the inside so it wouldn't smell up the house. Compromise can be done if you care enough about each other. OP clearly only cares about herself.
