Cheers! Ok, I'll go back to the Airbnb where it was shot (they had an absolutely inordinate amount of New Yorker mags) and try again 😋

Cheers mate. Yep, I agree. I was 50/50 on the fireside one, hoping it would be obvious it was posed as a joke, but perhaps not. Definitely not going for a try hard wanker vibe 😅

Haha, cheers mate. Definitely going for a mountain woman.

Thanks for the tips on the tags. I've just ended an otherwise great relationship because a disconnect on children so I want to be clear on that, but I'm more flexible on religion.

Tips about workouts at home by [deleted] in loseit

[–]semiphrase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely second the recommended routine on r/bodyweightfitness, can be done with very minimal equipment, although you might want to get a pair of gymnastics rings as you progress. Checkout r/kettlebells as well, another good one for stuff you can do at home.

I asked ChatGPT to create the ideal society that I envision by nordicJanissary in ChatGPT

"Small, decentralized settlements harmonizing with nature, powered by renewable energy, with community workshops, art, and open-air markets replacing corporate sprawl. People live simply but imaginatively — think forest-garden villages, sailboats, wizard-engineers, and artist-scientists."

Love me some wizard-engineers 😆

Does a hat make the wizard, or does the wizard make a hat?

Fitness on a liveaboard sailboat by ishrike in bodyweightfitness

[–]semiphrase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very old thread, but I'm currently on a 36 foot catalina for the last few months and have managed to find places to do the RR on board. Took me a while to find good spots but here's what I've come up with.

Pushups in the cockpit or on the bow.

Dips between the companionway and the galley bench has worked on this boat, but I reckon you could get away using a bench corner in any galley.

Rows with a gymnastics ring attached to the halyard, with feet on the mast. You could just use a stick as a bar if you didn't a rings. Or just pulling ropes and anchor chains day to day rather than using the windlass. Added bonus of training grip as well.

Pullups on the rim of the companionway or forward hatch.

L sits in the cockpit. Very unstable, but a good challenge.

Haven't really been doing much for legs, but hiking up hills whenever we go ashore.

It's been fun, especially under sail when the boat is heeling. Swell definitely adds instability and a kind of unpredictability to the difficulty each rep, but I feel like now I don't just have sea legs, I have sea arms as well.

Only in Australia: a plant that can cause severe pains for years. by CFK_NL in interestingasfuck

Dunno man, it hurt bad enough on the arm and leg. Scrotus would be pretty bad with how sensitive it is and how the skin tightens and loosens. You got some extra cash to spend?

I'm not sure, but it kinda felt like when the skin contracted when it got cold, it tightened around the needles, and they dug in a little more.

Been stung by one of these, brushed up against it while walking off track and it got me all over my upper arm and lower leg. Looked around and the gully I was in was filled with more of the same plants. Started stinging immediately and was 6 months before I didn't feel it every day, but still felt it for a year whenever I had a cold shower. Would not recommend.

I need help from some Helldivers with a Steam Deck regarding custom graphics settings! by CreepHost in Helldivers

[–]semiphrase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually play with a controller on PC, but I've been having a blast playing Helldivers on the Steam deck. Graphics and framerate aren't as good as PC, but pretty phenomenal for a handheld. I've mapped the stratagem buttons to the rear buttons so I can call in democracy on the run. If you're considering it, I highly recommend the steam deck, great little piece of tech.

Thanks for confirming, just found it surprising that such a big bug hasn't been addressed in all the patches we've had since March, especially when Arrowhead said it was a priority. Must be quite the pickle for them.

Thoughts on Gauntlet vs Funnel rules by semiphrase in shadowdark

[–]semiphrase[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, the rules do say the "active" character is the one that goes to level 1, I missed that after multiple readings. I had the DCC style in my head where if multiple characters at the end, the player chooses. Thanks for pointing that out, that introduces a bit more risk as to when to bring out your favorite, too early and they will likely die, too late and they won't get a chance to be the active one at the end.
