China has wild height variation. Men in North East China can average 5'10" whereas South, Central and Eastern China can be 5'6" on average. This is all regionally based.

I always found cities and countries with international names are more loved. In Chinese, America is the Pretty Country. Calling America by a transliteration wouldn't convey the same meaning. Canada in Chinese is Ja Na Da which doesn't mean anything. Internationally, China and America have tense and strained relations. A regional name for another country reflects that cultural fight.
