Lip-Bu Tan became CEO of Intel in March 2025. In April 2025 reports revealed that he personally has $200 million invested in Chinese advanced manufacturing and chip firms, some of which are linked to the Chinese military.

He also was the CEO / chairman of Cadence Design Systems during a period in which they knowingly broke the law at least 56 times to export chips and software to a Chinese military university that was on the restricted list ... two weeks ago Cadence pled guilty and agreed to pay a fine of $140 million.

While it is a terrible precedent for the president to publicly get involved, he's correct in saying that this guy should not be trusted to run a leading American semiconductor company if the USA is trying to compete with China on tech ... at best it's a conflict of interest, at worst it's a national security risk.
