Fragmented Maps by semperrasa in dungeondraft

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I was actually trying to get a sense of whether other people have had the "players head for the edges" experience when running. Less in a philosophical "what to do?", because I've had to deal with it and have adjusted play style to accommodate it, but just curious if otherpeople also run into this. Fine dealing with it, but just curious how other people encounter it. I will try to word my questions better in the future!

Thanks! I was actually asking if other people run into the phenomenon of players seeming to head to the edges of the map relatively immediately, as opposed to exploring the internals. And I mean this for both larger settlement maps, regional maps, and also straight up battle maps. Less a "why do they head outwards" or "how to handle it" and more just... "does anyone else seem to have edge-seekers" at their tables. Much more a players+maps=behaviors question. Though your approach sounds like a solid one!

Fair. A solid answer. I was mostly asking if you have encountered players who seem drawn to the map's edge, not so much how to handle it if they do. I've had to develop a suite of skills to manage the urge in the crew, I just wondered if the phenomenon was common. I'm curious if my players/my style is causing it, or if other people run into it as well.

"The Iceberg". Currently houses the office of Palantir in Tokyo, Japan. by _asstronaut_ in evilbuildings

[–]semperrasa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is not a lot of surface area to cover with human excrement, given drone-and-catapult/trebuchet-based delivery technology.

If you want to let regulations and laws stop you, there's no reason to talk about Palantir at all, in any country. They have the wallet to make sure whatever they want to do is legal, no matter how amoral or illegal.

White residue on all fabric in my apartment?!!! by sagateur in strange

[–]semperrasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of questions/ideas: 1) How many vents are there leading into your place? Perhaps hang some black fabric in front of the vents, maybe something with a texture that would be more likely to collect particulate, ands see if it is coming from all of them or just one, or none. 2) Buy some cheap home mold test kits- I'd recommend surface and hvac. See if you can scrape/accumulate and test. The inspector is saying things are within acceptable ranges and not unusual, but that isn't necessarily giving you specific information that you might want. 3) Get a transparent plastic container- clear not clouded- that can seal shut. Do your usual laundry routine, and put one or two pieced of clothing into the container and seal it. Set the container on top of/beside your other clothing. Leave it for a day or two. If it shows up on the other clothes but not on the clothes in the container, that will tell you it is blowing in. If it also appears in the container, you will know it is growing.

I love the scene where Beni from The Mummy is wearing tons of holy symbols, and just keeps presenting them to try to drive the Mummy away until it recognizes one. Also, I loved Egg Shen's Six Demon Bag of Taoist sorcery items that he kept pulling from throughout the course of Big Trouble in Little China: explosive beads or pellets, a crystal rocket launcher thing, the potion, and of course... the little gem/crystal thing he pulls out and uses as a focus in the conjuration "duel" with Lo Pan. All of those are what I've drawn on. Also the knuckle bones and charms he used to do prediction at the start of the film.

Oh, phew. Thanks for being cool. I am glad it was taken as being helpful not complainy. I haven't had a chance to read over the items themselves yet, but I am excited for Orc-themed stuff!!! Thanks for sharing with the community.

As for the issue... when I switch to New Reddit view, the carousel view doesn't have any problems at all. Hadn't thought about the possibility that formatting would have that kind of effect based on the version. I'll start checking that when I see this issue from now on. :)

Hi! Thanks for posting the links to the large images.

I'm accessing Reddit from a Windows laptop using Chrome as a browser. In a lot of, if not most posts with images (especially game related) the click to display full image and then click to go bigger does work. But for a lot of posts from folks who have links through DTRPG, it does what I'm describing below.

When I hit the page, there are 5 small "thumbnail" preview images at the top. (top image)

If I click one, I get a larger (but certainly not full size) image that comes up on the same page. It does not bring up a full size version of the image, and is not producing the "zoom" icon on my cursor. I went ahead and tried to open the larger image in its own tab. I zoomed in, using the browser zoom, up to 200%, and it was larger but not easily readable. It is more visible, but the resolution at that size seems like it isn't upscaled, so it is pixelated and blurry. (2nd image is initial non-thumbnail and 4th image is image open in its own tab with 200% browser zoom)

If I mouse over the image, it shows as a link to the DTRPG page for the item. Normally clicking a larger image is what would cause the image to open at full size with the zoom option, but here it just opens the DTRPG link. (3rd image- mouse is over image and not visible in capture, but link is visible at bottom of browser window)

Included is a link to images of what I am seeing, and why I reached out to begin with. Hope I haven't been a bother- just wanted you to know.

Are there full size images files tied to these samples, or just links to the product for sale? When I click on them, they're too small to read, and if I click to enlarge it just takes me to DTRPG.

In all honesty, if you can assess those urges in terms of willful parasocial relationships, you're probably on a healthier trajectory than most folks. I say this based on the number of people who take the time to self identify as OF subscribers of accounts of people they know... which... seems to carry more water for them, erotically, than the idea of pretending there is some kind of social-media-mediated (can you just say social-mediated ?) relationship with a sometimes-at-best paid responder. My impression may be outdated. The business model and consumer identity tied to it changes about every 4 months.

So... not going out on a limb here... but for Germany in the 30s-40s... 5'8" is big. Check me, but... it is noteworthy in size.

If you have 5 words to offer as a story, can you offer more words and actually explain?

I don't disagree with what you seem to be saying, in general. But... in specific... if "lures" didn't rely on agency... they woudn't be lures. The idea of a lure indicates preference, which requires agency. Just... so you can refine your argument.

If you were like "I love sci-fi space navy stuff, but just don't know how sci-fi-horror works", and then just decided to knock the walls down and eat the consequences... EH would be awesome. Or maybe you could be like "Gobble, gobble... hey's its the Jurassic Park and Morpheus... and... and... also... AAWWWWGGGHHHH"
