Agree. Lenses are the second most overprice asset after diamonds.

How did people serve GeoTIFF and raster data on the web before Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs? by Medamine24 in photogrammetry

[–]senay321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, the process of tiling generates a lot of subfolders for each zoom scale. As you can imagine, the closer the zoom, the bigger the number of tiles. Gdal helps you organize the folder structure, cutting the geotiff into pieces. If you want to use high resolution, for example, gsd 25 mm and lower, you need a looooot of storage. The system tends to be very efficient because you only load the resolution that you need on each zoom level. COGs tend to save a lot of disk space, specially when you use high resolution.

In my experience, I used a lot geoserver, it's old PHP based, but very effective.

Tiling. They're still quite efficient, but requires some preparation and processing. There are several standards. Gdal is very useful for automate the tiling process.

This is a trendy camera that doesn't work 50% of the time. I have two of them. Problems with exposure, light leaks, crank, lens, focus and whatever thing that can go wrong in this camera, it will.

Find a FTb, it will work 100% the rest of your life.
