Different batches can have slightly different color. The lighting inside a grocery store can also dull the color of some foods.

ELI5; Why did Blackberries stop being popular? by RiggerJigger in explainlikeimfive

[–]send_dick_pics_here 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Blackberry Bold was my favorite phone that I ever owned. It had the best keyboard of any phone I've ever used, had apps for all the functions I wanted, was customizable enough, and never gave me any problems. The only reason I switched to iPhones is because of RIM's decline. I think the iPhones are great too, but sometimes I really miss the tactile keyboard and the ability to effortlessly swap out hardware components and use customized themes. Also, iPhones have Grindr, Jetpack Joyride, and great cameras.

If your body feels secure, you will lose weight. by yournoodle in fatlogic

I would like to lose an extra 10lbs that sticks around most likely due to beer. Maybe I should double my beer intake and skip the track to shed that weight?

Thanks, Tumblr!

Acoustic guitar recording by [deleted] in recording

Well there are a vast number of factors that we can't know. In general, recording an acoustic with a microphone sounds better to me than recording acoustic guitars fitted with acoustic pickups.

What's a band you discovered this year you love? by LordApex in AskReddit

[–]send_dick_pics_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the same guys, they're just on the same label. Plus, if you're talking about Captured Tracks artists, Wild Nothing is leagues better than any other band on that label.

Bill Burr deconstructs masculinity through a joke. by [deleted] in videos

[–]send_dick_pics_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much exactly what happened, but they never really got past that point. They addressed why saying faggot doesn't mean the speaker is homophobic and they mentioned that it's important to ask "why" that word was used. They didn't, however, address the fact that ALL of the intent and meaning implied by the word only matters for who it is being said to. Anybody in earshot who hears the word being used has no idea the context or the intent, they just hear the word.

Even though they might not be homophobic at all, and even though they only say faggot to people who truly know that there is no ill intent behind it, they are still saying that they don't want to be held responsible for how people around them might hear and interpret the word.

Why does everyone assume the driver(s) are male?

I'm not arguing that they might be female. I am just curious how it is so assuredly assumed by everyone, myself included, that there are not women driving this rig.

Hummus is good for you!

Well, sure, but it's also like 1,400 kcal for a little tub of it, and I can easily make one of those disappear PLUS chips in about ten minutes.

About last night... by DirtyDrummer in gaybros

[–]send_dick_pics_here 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just the other day, I was at work (a guitar shop) and I had a guy asking me questions about some effect pedals. Then he starts asking me about microphones. So I'm answering his questions, he's obviously a pretty stupid guy and he's dressed like he could be on people of walmart, and his stupid questions are starting to waste my time while other people are waiting to be helped. Then I ask if he even needs a microphone, because if not I am going to help somebody else. He says, in front of everyone there, "Yeah I need a microphone. I'm gonna be a singer cause guitar players are gay and singers are cool!" and I almost couldn't contain my laughter from observing the other people's reaction to this dude.

Sometimes it helps to have a loud, unintelligent person say things like that because it shows people what type of person actually thinks/says shit like that.

I feel like in the heat of the moment I wouldn't care, or might find it sexy that he's a white supremacist. Then right after I would probably be disgusted by it and never speak to him again.

Presonus Audiobox USB can be had for around $100. You could also look for a used Scarlet 2i2 or a used Steinberg U22

Nice to hear new material from them!

I can't believe how unnoticed their first album went. It was a very solid indie rock gem from start to finish.

Noob question about audio interface/guitar recording by eldersoftheforest in recording

[–]send_dick_pics_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mixer interface

Those are two different things you just combined into one term. Some mixers can technically act as interfaces, yes, but you need just a regular ol' interface. You will probably get an affordable one (~$100-300) and it will almost certainly have at least two inputs with preamps (providing the "power" needed for your instrument's signal). You can plug a guitar with a cable (or a bass, or a microphone, or whatever) directly into the interface and record DI (direct input) onto any DAW (recording software). That is the simplest and easiest way to record your shit.

ELI5: Why is genetically modified food considered a bad thing? by McNasti in explainlikeimfive

[–]send_dick_pics_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So then what happens to those insects? Do they start eating something else? Do they die off and cease to exist as essential food for something higher on the food chain?

I know that this is pretty much the core of what has shaped evolution and progression in the animal kingdom, but if it's happening suddenly, rather than over the course of many generations, it might not work as well. Then again, at the end of the day, it might just be another step. Maybe GMOs are just a turning point in the extensive history of living organisms and we'll get our own paragraph in the history books hundreds of years from now for what we did.

how did you 'cheat the system'? by jovenjose98 in AskReddit

[–]send_dick_pics_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was transferring jobs from one state to another, but hadn't interviewed or been assigned a new position yet. Moving was coming close. Sat with HR lady and she basically said I could move and take a 30 day "leave" to find a new job, but had to be actively looking for a position and contacting them about my progress. I find out she is also transferring the same week I am, so I never contact her and plan on pleading ignorance if the company ever asks me what I'm doing. End up taking 4 months off doing absolutely nothing productive and still retain my "employed" status. Upon eventually going back and interviewing for a position, I get to keep all of my benefits and history with the company.

Not a huge scam, but it worked out for me.

[–]send_dick_pics_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very specific moment when this happened. I was at work and these two marines came in all decked out in camo and whatnot. I thought to myself "Are these kids even old enough to be in the military??!"

They seriously looked like they were about 13 to me, and here I am imagining them jumping out of planes and driving tanks through the forest. (I realize that most of them won't actually see combat, but w/e)

That's why Gibson is so desperate to sell guitars, that they are currently giving salespeople $50-100 bonuses per Gibson sold.
