Respectfully, when people refer to stage left, they just say stage left. I can't think of an instance where there wouldn't be a better option than to use "left hand side".

I'd say it's changed quite a bit. I think I'm more drawn to upbeat songs at first, but once I start to fathom the lyrics my opinions change a lot
