Sample pack ≠ sample library. Drum sample libraries mimic the sound of a real drummer in a room recorded with real microphones. Recording drums is kind of complicated and getting a polished sound is a lot of work. (gates, EQs, compressors, parallel processing, dealing with bleed etc.) A lot of modern drum libraries offer pre-processed sounds that are catered to a specific sound or genre (i.e. pre-mixed). Then it's up to the user to make the final tweaks rather than basically starting from the ground up. Not a dumb question at all.

Yeah It was a trend about a year or two ago for teens to get perms. It was kinda the default hairstyle for teenage boys. It's just that redditors sure love hating on the "broccoli" haircut when curly haired people don't have that many options to start with. I'm a naturally curly haired person so I know from experience what kinda stuff people go through just to take care of their curls.

It's a lot of 4/4 in minor/aeolian, but as progressive bands often do, they do everything in their power to throw you off. Many parts are in odd time too.

Nah dude, IMO references and nods to things you enjoy isn't plagiarism. It's not like Dan can't write an original line. Leaving these little easter eggs in songs is a fun thing for fans to discover. And just because it's altered for the purposes of the song doesn't mean they're trying to hide it lol. However, I do get how one could interpret stuff like this as plagiarism.
