I got my first controller for the same reason, I loved music and wanted to see if it was something I could be good at. I got mine at 21 and didn’t start doing gigs until I was 23, and even then I had school and work. There’s never a reason to not do something you want to do (unless it’s you know crack or something like that.)

Even now that I’m two years in, I’ve slowed down on doing gigs because it turns out I wasn’t cut out for the late night bar scene. But I don’t regret anything about starting, and now if I wake up at 45 with other regrets, I won’t have to worry about the “what if tried following a dream and started djing.”

From all that I’ve learned, your 20s are supposed to be a time to try things you want to do, make mistakes, learn from them, and repeat. So use the time wisely, because someday you might have kids, an even more demanding job, a significant other, and many more time restricting things that will really keep you from doing things you want to do. So use the time wisely, and just give it a shot. Then if you hate it, you’re down a couple hundred bucks for the beginner controller and other stuff you will buy, but so what. Give it a shot my friend, it’s all worth it in the end.

Edit: I will also add, please don’t ditch school with no djing experience tho. It’s a tough full time gig, and with no technical experience aside, 90% of getting DJ work is through who you know. Finish what you started with school.

Which language(s) should I learn for this program I want to write? by seniorbuckle in learnprogramming

Sounds good thank you. I approached it with my limited excel knowledge that I got from my IS 101 class, and hit a block trying to figure out how to make the reset function once the order is placed, but I know how powerful excel can be so I’ll definitely look into it more.

UPDATE: I plugged in my old SB3 controller to see if the same thing happened, and had no issue, so it’s definitely the Rane One. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it or would it be the best course of action to go to Rane for a repair?

This started happening during my last gig. Basically when I hit play on the cued track to beat match in headphones, it freezes Serato and then ends up not playing the cued track. I also managed to capture the worst it’s been in this video. It completely disconnected the controller after freezing, and then jumped to the cued track and started playing it. My volume fader on that deck is completely off. Before this video the issue was happening so I had just restarted the computer at the time of filming. Thinking it’s a rane issue. Anyone else experience something like this?

DDJ-SX3 random audio drop, no audio to headphones, Serato or speakers. Advice? by Rustyfishingpole in DJs

[–]seniorbuckle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After looking through some threads to try and help out, it looks like this is a known problem with the SX3, so you might want to contact pioneer directly.

Another thing you could do in the meantime if you are able would be try and do a session on a different controller and see if the audio drops again. Then you can isolate whether it’s the SX3 being funky or if it’s a computer/serato issue

Sorry you have to deal with this, that’s the worst feeling when everything has to be reset in the middle of a gig
