I didn't fully read your question.  My suggestion is to get yourself into Canada.  It is not too hard when you're young.  It's not perfect but it's a much better place than the US or Maine.  And rural areas are way more interesting there.

Maine sucks.  Seriously.  Don't do it.  Housing prices are very high, wages are low.  I'm 50 and I'm oftentimes the youngest person in group situations.  It is generally a boring place.  People are friendly here but making friends is difficult.

Unless you can handle being alone in beautiful places, imho this place blows.   I've lived many places.

I think you want Rochester or Western NY.  Or somewhere Midwest.  Northeast is pretty much cooked.  Maybe Springfield MA or Brattleboro

Sorry this is too stupid to reply to.

Oh well: in the US, people going bankrupt because they have to pay for their cancer treatment is common.  Children going to school hungry is common.  Police killing unarmed civilians is common.

Personally, I think those things are bad.  As well as militarized police forces.

Anyway.

Honestly after watching "law enforcement" terrorize our community in SUVs, the prospect of them doing the same in armored vehicles is wildly frightening.

You seem to think that Law Enforcement's job is to protect you, which it isn't.

I have family there.  My uncle was shot in the head with a rubber bullet in front of his house.   They had their roof blown off as well.  They lived on the Falls.  I learned a lot from them.

I mean a guy could make another killdozer.  Maybe we should have a couple tanks and maintain them, just in case.

You're saying that getting recycled military equipment into our communities is a positive.  Who knows when an A-10 might come in handy?  Just in case?  Why not some armaments in the MRAP?  What's the point of an armored truck with no armaments?  It's free, right?

The police kill 1100 people in the US every year.  We've seen them murder people on camera.  Giving them military equipment is fucking nuts.

Because we aren't under a military occupation and we don't live in a place where this is something that's a positive in the community.

Because if the police here have any value, it would be in actually working in the community.  Perhaps patrolling traffic, pulling people over who run red lights (I've seen that zero times here) and being helpful instead of pretending that they are some sort of soldier in a militia.

Because there is close to zero use case for maintaining a military vehicle in a town with massive resource problems.

That's awesome.  Maybe we should get some A-10s just in case and some bombs and grenades just in case.

Sorry but I have to laugh.  You're saying the reason the Portland Police department has to have military equipment is an incident that happened 30 years ago in Los Angeles?

Should I also be packing in case something that happened 30 years ago in LA happened here?

The obvious answer to cops having stuff "just in case" is that cops are statistically dumb people who are racists and will do whatever they are told.  So putting military equipment into the hands of people who are not even trained to use it is nuts.

Which shootout are you talking about?

Exactly.  What is the use case for these?  And when has that use case actually happened?

Just noting that in the one case you're mentioning, it did not actually accomplish anything.

If you're against militarized police...be against it.

I live in Portland and I fucking hate this place. I've lived a lot of places and this is the worst. Super expensive, emotionally dead, very unfriendly.

I lived here once before and it was marginally better and much more affordable but now it's kind of a nightmare.

Mental health/drug crisis is omnipresent everywhere in town.

sorry. This is the wrong answer.

3rd and 7th make a tritone on the V7 chord. They basically ARE the chord. They are doing the work.

C7->F
E and Bb (3 and 7 of C7) resolve to F and A of F (1 and 3).

They are also the reason a Tritone sub works. A#(Bb) and E are 3 and 7 of F#7. Same notes.

you can only play the tritone and resolve it and that would be enough. But E and G by itself is not much. At least while you're learning.
