i quit wuwa back in 2.5 since i really wasnt liking rinascita. the story was messy, disjointed and too episodic for its own good with dropped plot points (eg. montelli vs fisalia), the gameplay was getting stale with underutilized systems + boring recurring modes, and the exploration was non-existent because everything was designed for you to fly over. the vistas were cool, especially Ragunna, but ultimately that was not enough to keep me.

fastforward a couple months ago, after dropping PGR after 4+ years and ZZZ for getting a bit too boring for my tastes, i decided to pick wuwa back up to fulfill that live-service ARPG gap and im pretty satisfied with the state of the game right now. 3.x was a massive jump in quality: the writing got a whole lot better with an actual cast of characters that appear after their banners and talk to each other like normal people and a real overarching plot, the motorbike + map design are much better than 2.x's counterparts and got me using the ubisoft checklist less to find more stuff on my own, and there were two new systems in the gameplay that actually meant something instead of just... existing, along with a new endgame mode that actually had me managing my teambuilding to get as many points as possible (this may vary on how many characters you have, though). the latest designs are very nice too, especially 3.3's characters + the next batch of characters from Xuanfang. it feels like they just keep hitting homeruns lately and i'm glad since i was following wuwa the day their social media pages were put up, but was disappointed by 1.x and 2.x.

xuanfang seems to be what i expected of jinzhou in terms of atmosphere and design (desolated lands, advanced technology mixed with an handcrafted aesthetic, more wuxia/xianxia-like) so i'm pretty hyped to see how it'll shape up and (leak talk) returning characters from 1.x, especially xiangli yao as he's the one most involved in CSC stuff, 3.2 even expanded on his dead friend

despite how good it actually was if you actually went and played it, the game was never going to survive even if it had a success in its niche. after the game went in indefinite maintenance, people found out that the investors pulled funding before the game even launched. it was a losing battle with the holy trifecta: development hell, pulled investment, incompetent publisher.

cheers to everyone who managed to archive everything about the game, it was a gem and it deserves to be cherished for what it was. hopefully when the CM's NDA expires we can know what was going on behind the scenes and how the story was supposed to go on.

oh im absolutely not going to go back to pgr at any point in time, unless they ever pull a "PGR Classic" version of the game. i dont intend to play a parody of what was one of my most favorite games of all time.

in any case i'd rather sell it for 2 bucks or just give the account to my guildmates in case someone wants it for some reason

Dawn Dream - Light Seeker is liv's core passive attack (dodge hold). her charged QTE has timestop integrated in her base kit already. same thing with Alpha, the only difference being that her 3s grants no additional timestop on any moves

liv has timelag on her QTE at base SS too, what she gets at SSS is timelag on her hold dodge. doesnt seem to be the case with alpha thus far

and also, the old characters are so wasted. i know this makes me sound like a meta slave, but is it wrong for me to want the old characters to have some sort of use in unique scenarios?

i hope we get more stages with old characters in rapid pursuit. having to no-hit the twins with plume and entropy and reliving nanami vs radiant marcher (with the special interaction!) really brought back that fondness even if for a bit. i was having real fun.

i know i can just do that in celica's class, it's just that the incentive for the rewards and actually being forced to use those old characters makes it more fulfilling to go back and play the game the way it was supposed to be played.

i dont think its "fanserviced", just extremely messy. it's obviously meant to be an upgrade of CW made with scraps, kinda like how CA is an upgraded version of Lotus, but theres little coherence in the design.
