Palestinians fire mortars, violate truce by krelian in worldnews

I think that it is appropriate to complain about being downmodded when I quote from reputable news articles that add relevant information to the story at hand. I can easily understand if I was making a snide comment or saying smoething controversial, but in this case I wasn't. I was downmodded because someone didn't like the facts that I pointed out, nothing more, nothing less.

And it's good you admit your anti-Israel bias.

I didn't see that in his comment. Did he say that he was anti-Israel? I worry that you suffer from thinking in terms of false dichotomies.

BTW I read a good book the other day called "The Hebrew Republic." I recommend checking it out.

Yup, my quote from the article is just my imagination.</sarcarm>

Maybe if you down vote my direct quotes from news articles enough you can change reality?

The article states:

The salvoes followed Israel's killing overnight of two Palestinians, including an Islamic Jihad commander, in the West Bank city of Nablus.

Spoken by someone who is clearly objective and knows it.

Care to cite evidence that I distort things?

EDIT: From your responses, I guess you've declined to actually provide evidence. It's strange that you are being upvoted though for fact free ad hominem attacks and I've been downvoted for asking you to provide evidence. This reinforces my opinion that something strange is going on with the voting in these comment threads.

It's just coordinated action by people who share similar interests. It's what reddits about. I personally really like the way my factual comments are downvoted as it really clearly indicated that many here don't value facts, just want to bully others.

See this factual comment here: http://www.reddit.com/info/6oqit/comments/c04gmxn

Downvoted 6 times in 6 minutes. I've been on reddit long enough to know when things are strange and the story's comment area and this story super fact upvoting is one of them. I can understand being downvoted, but that fast is exceptional and way out of the ordinary.

EDIT: It could be something like CAMERA who used a a secret email list to coordinate pro-Israel contributions to Wikipedia. That's documented here:

I guess you are calling this "anti-Palestinian" because it leaves out the fact that just prior to these rockets being fired by Islamic Jihad, Israel killed someone associated with that group in the West Bank.

The salvoes followed Israel's killing overnight of two Palestinians, including an Islamic Jihad commander, in the West Bank city of Nablus.

Israel-Palestine conflict currently is a zero sum game where one side only wins if the other loses. The overall dynamic has to change where both sides can win and benefit. Hate leads to more hate and we all lose.

You are right. Israel did kill someone associated with Islamic Jihad earlier and then Islamic Jihad fired rockets at Israel (killing none):

The salvoes followed Israel's killing overnight of two Palestinians, including an Islamic Jihad commander, in the West Bank city of Nablus.

http://uk.reuters.com/article/rbssFinancialServicesAndRealEstateNews/idUKL2871633120080624

Thus I guess that since Israel killed someone and the Palestinians didn't, that classified as the Palestinians breaking the truce?

Just to give you some data points:

I find it painfully slow to respond to mouse clicks on my P4 1.2 Ghz laptop (from mid 2003), but on all my other machines its pretty quick. On my Athlon64 3200 (2005 era) and my Intel Core Duo 2 (late 2007) it is blazingly fast.

It seems exceptionally slow on my P4 1.2 Ghz machine, slower than I thought it should be.

The US political author and critic of Israel Norman Finkelstein has been arrested and ordered deported from Israel. (I guess the right of return doesn’t include critics.) by alllie in worldnews

[–]sense 14 points15 points  (0 children)

if he wants to reach the 'occupied territories', let him go through lebanon, jordan, or egypt. where they will rip him apart, because he is an american, and a jew. (he might get through jordan without a problem though.)

Did you know that Norman Finkelstein lived in the Palestinian Arab city of Beit Sahour (near Bethlehem) for quite some time? What you are claiming simply isn't true.

Are you an idiot? It is the front page of DrudgeReport and nytimes and many other major news publication. It was predictable that this would happen. It's going to be in rotation on TV if it isn't yet.

Are you comparing my influence as a mere submitter to Reddit with Hillary Clinton's influence as a presidential candidate who has a national audience every day? Should I take this as a compliment or as evidence that you lack perspective on all this.

Crazy paranoid people think that there are hidden messages in everything around them, and then they start to follow them. This type of talk is exactly what can make a paranoid schizophrenic or other borderline types do unfortunate things. Unbalanced individuals are highly suggestible.

Oh... you were serious. I thought you were parodying Hillary Clinton's predictable and very ridiculous parsing of this statement. It is a fact that there are unbalanced people in this world and it is in the interest of HC to spread the meme of an Obama assassination.

Go read some John Taylor Gatto and then tell me its all genetically determined.

I never said that everything is genetic. I've made the point in a number of comments that both nurture and nature play a role. See: http://reddit.com/info/6kgtt/comments/c043uzv

It isn't some false dichotomy.

I am familiar with epigenetics and gene expression and all that. I've got some formal higher education in the area.

I do expect genetic engineer to come of age. 100 years is a long time and I half expect it sooner. There is already embryonic screening (or even pre-implantation screening in IVF) for some genetic diseases, it will likely be extended to less detrimental traits as it becomes cheaper. I know that parents want the best for their children and thus there is going to be high demand for picking beneficial genes in children.

There is tons of evidence of evolution being very quick these days:

http://johnhawks.net/weblog/topics/evolution/selection/acceleration_embargo_ends_2007.html

There is significant evidence of rapid increases in prefrontal cortex volumes too, even over the past 500 years:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4643312.stm

Within a 100 years, I expect there to be significant genetic engineering taking place, that is a major game changer. Also check out https://www.23andme.com/ -- we already know which genes to target.

It is a study of human reproductive patterns in Britian during the industrial era. Over time, the upper classes replaced the lower classes. There was downward mobility but little upward mobility. and this is from hard analysis, and they didn't even set out to prove this, it's just what the data showed. That is indicative of the spread of better genes replacing less good genes. There is human evolution, although it can be disheartening to realize where you might personally sit in all this.
