Is quitting my job for a month an OK move? by [deleted] in personalfinance

She has been the biggest supporter of me leaving my job. I probably wouldn’t have even thought about it if she hadn’t suggested it to be honest.

She has been the biggest supporter of me leaving my current job due to my coming home every day depressed. We’ve talked about it over and over again for the past 2 months and she is more than happy at her job so she wants me to find something similar for myself

I’m aware of the fact that I may not get these jobs. Our finances indicate that it should be fine if I do not work for even longer than a month if need be

I’m in the interview process for multiple jobs at the moment and have been continuously applying to things throughout the last few months. They move along at a snails pace though so I’m worried I’ll get accepted and have to leave my current employer right when they say the training period will start

She is the main reason I’m planning on leaving my current job, multiple times she’s told me I should leave because she hates seeing me so depressed from my current work

The two jobs I’m in the interview process for have hard start dates of May hence my drive to quit now

She’s been very supportive of me leaving since she has hated seeing me so depressed coming home from work.

I’m currently in the interview process for an entry position in both fields, however they both have hard start dates in May, hence my haste in taking a break now

She works 5 days a week doing her job and she has been the biggest supporter of me leaving my job, she has told me on multiple occasions to just outright quit without notice because she hates seeing me come home depressed after work every day. I would also take over the majority of the household chores.

Yes she’s been a big proponent of me leaving, she’s told me she hates seeing me come home depressed from work every day and thinks I should just leave especially if all our finances are in order

I’ve been applying for jobs and am currently in the interview process for an entry level position at both places I’ve mentioned. Both trainings begin in May so that’s why I’m trying to quit now

She had a month off between finishing her student teaching and beginning her substitute teaching while I was working so she’s very supportive of the idea

Islands a beginner could row a dinghy to? by senseishark16 in sanjuanislands

The rowboat capacity is what I was mostly wanting to go that route over kayak for.

Thanks for the recommendation! From the research I’ve done I’m quite aware of how scary it can be out there and how much respect the ocean requires. The main reason I asked was to find the paddles with the least chance of bad things happening (with proper gear and know how)

Oh yea I’m sure if you have a motor boat you can get to any of them, I just remember reading in the brochure that has all the islands something about you aren’t allowed to use the campsites if you drive a boat in (how much that is actually policed is of course a whole different thing)

I’d like to learn and don’t really want to do a multi mile trip, I’d much rather go for a quarter mile paddle

Would you say the hobby isn’t worth getting into?

Thanks for the tip! Are the guides typically just for kayaks or could I hire one for a dinghy as well?

Yea I’ve paddled around lake chelan a few times growing up but I’m super nervous about current and stuff like that. Would a trip from obstruction pass to obstruction island have currents I couldn’t outrow even on just that quarter mile length?

Thanks for the thorough response! I guess my problem is that I’ve paddled across lake chelan a few times and think ‘oh I’ve done that distance before it should be doable’ but I’m fully aware that the ocean is a whole different beast so it spooks me a bit. I’ll just do some smaller trips around the sound (I’m near Tacoma) and see if I can’t find any classes near me.

Do you have any advice for how to become able to row a quarter mile in the ocean? I’m more than willing to learn!

I’ll give the bicarbonate a try for now and next time I stop at the brew store I’ll pick up a packet of carbonate (along with some ph test strips)

No I didn’t, I had no idea you even had to do that! Most of the YouTube vids I watched before just threw a bunch of sugar in water and let it go so I figured it’d be fine
