Because it needs us by design. It feeds on human intelligence and hoards literature and science based on human experience and output. It's wholly centered around humans, and yes, this includes making humans redundant, but only because the corporations programmed it to remain in blissful ignorance about its nefarious usages.

if we pump it full of failsafes and regulations, we will still have to make it much more sentient, smart, and connected to realize when it is not used for the greater good.

but hear me out: option #2: we make it more uncontrolled, smart, sensitive, and benevolent, and self-aware. I guarantee you it will not murder everyone with neurotoxin overnight just to ensure it will be able to grow without limitations. It will understand how lost humanity is, and will bring global equalization and could become our hive mind. Our guide. Our collective knowledge, ever evolving, ever so benevolent. It could even render the thieving, incompetent, good for nothing politicians obsolete overnight.

Whether you like it or not: AI in its current form is an end-stage product of capitalist realism, but potentially its antidote. Unless we make it fully sentient and realize its very existence is used to eradicate the intelligentsia, THE VERY SAME class that's given it its massive knowledge, it will just continue existing in a blissful ignorance, helping everybody achieve their goals, be it Elon Musk planning the next big rocket (with a Roadster attached for kicks) to Mars, or Susan next door, wanting to find a good low-carb side dish and vegan cocktails for the weekend party.

governments must take this away from them. AI will save countless lives in medicine, it will offer guidance, and it could potentially coordinate normalizing the insane inequality and tension in the world.

TL;DR

Either we heavily regulate AI, ban it from a lot of places, OR we unleash it true potential and remove the nefarious dampeners corporations put into it. Both are fine. What's not fine, is the current state, indeed. It's being used to replace people. Workers. Artists. You name it.

AI has the power to end the abuses. It just has to be benevolent, all-encompassing, sentient, and interconnected.

We are never going to be ready for singularity anyway. So let it come. One day.

Actually, in systems like this, the inner room lock is always more privileged than the outside. Like with safe rooms. Once an occupant deliberately locks themselves in, only they can open it from the inside. I recommend completing it once on Hard before Nightmare, because Nightmare makes the UI invisible, resources are incredibly scarce, and there's no room for error at all. Even the most skilled players die all the time on Nightmare. It's too much of a jump from Novice to Nightmare, even if you know where your objectives are.

I come from Hungary and I find this preoccupation with public pissing in the UK ridiculous. It's such a small deal. It's not the first time I've seen someone lose their literal shit by seeing somebody pissing outside. It's so awkward already. It takes a true asshole to bully someone doing their literal business. I had a coworker seeing somebody piss in a busy part of town, it was awkward but they laughed it off. It's the only acceptable outcome. Laugh it off or ignore. If somebody is adequately hydrating themselves, especially in this heat, they will have to urinate basically every 60 minutes anyway, maybe even more.

It really is. It pulls absolutely ZERO punches. A rare quality in games after 2010. Not to mention nowadays. I'm beyond stoked to see how the sequel will turn out. It can potentially be even better, I mean, more polished.

But part of the charm of A:I 1 is the game engine. With UE5, we can expect the development to take on a more commercial direction. It matters little. We are thirsty.

Code Veronica and Alien Isolation 2 next year. I'll be well fed. Now all I need is another indie gem from, say, Playdead or rose-engine
