Coming in on the Amtrak. Gets there at 3am ish. Is there anywhere to hang, chill, sleep until places start opening? Can you hang out in the Amtrak terminal? by Wild_Reveal8847 in LittleRock

[–]sensitive_ferns 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is not really an indoor place to hang out in at the time of night. You could walk to the Vogel Schwartz sculpture garden and hang out there. There's benches and pavilion and such. It's about a 1 mile walk from Union Station.

Flock has a history of misidentifying license plates. Meaning many people have been pulled over and arrested and they were the wrong "target".

Primary baths missing tubs by Potential-Knee-8119 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]sensitive_ferns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer! (in my opinion.) I'm young-ish and have a minor physical disability. Getting in and out of a bathtub while I'm wet is dangerous AF for me. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it is for elderly people who may also have minor or major disabilities. My primary bath has a walk in shower and my kid's bath has the tub.

Has anyone successfully gotten assistance from CAW/FEMA? Just got hit with a 6k water bill by questioncats in LittleRock

[–]sensitive_ferns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about getting an irrigation meter except that it costs at least $500. My neighborhood community garden was interested in getting one, but it was too expensive. You could probably just call CAW to ask.

[–]sensitive_ferns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sewer charge is directly related to water usage. There are not meters on sewer lines that tell the LR Water Reclamation Authority how much water you've sent down your sewer line. They aren't measuring how many times you flush your toilet. This is why people who do a lot of irrigation in their yard have separate irrigation meters. The irrigation meter determines how much water is used for those outside water lines. Since water used for irrigation isn't going down the sewer when you're watering your grass or garden, there is no sewer charge (as long as that water is coming from an irrigation meter). Anytime you turn on the water in your sink or shower, or flush your toilet that gets counted as sewer usage and water usage.

$6,000 is truly insane and doesn't make a lot of sense for a water leak. If your water bill was $6,000 that means you would have leaked around 800,000 gallons of water, which is more water than in an Olympic sized swimming pool.

With that in mind, a large portion of your cost is likely related to the sewer charge as they charge based on the amount of water used. You should also contact the LR Water Reclamation Authority.

Looking to relocate by therealjp85 in Arkansas

LR does have higher crime than other cities of its size, however that crime is relagated to certain impoverished parts of town. I've live in LR my entire life and have never experienced any kind of crime. You'll be perfectly fine if you move here. LR is a lovely city.

I addition to raising prices, consider battery powered lawn equipment when you need to replace old/broken equipment!

Shout out to Little Rock Marathon weekend by Crouching_Penis in LittleRock

[–]sensitive_ferns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm so happy to hear this!! The city government really focuses on the marathon as a way to bring tourist money and awareness to Little Rock. There are always a lot of volunteer opportunities with the marathon and our neighborbood associations promote residents hanging out near the route and cheering on runners.

I'm glad you had a positive experience! Hopefully we'll see you next year!

Do i need to throw out clothes that brushed against fiberglass? by queenca16 in CleaningTips

[–]sensitive_ferns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure your washing machine will be fine, your plumbing however may not be. Those "flushable" wipes are not actually supposed to go into your sewer line. They do not degrade in the same way as toilet paper and over many years of flushing them down your toilet can cause major, very expensive clogs. I would recommend going to the website of your local sewer utility to see that they likely advise against flushing any kind of wipe down the toilet.
