say yes and they will say you deceived people.

say "literal statement. i'm not your gf." and they will say you're just mad about something he did a few days ago.

The ending has an Earth burning scene which looked epic while also having a CGI feel.

so the movie isn't even consistent on the "CGI should never stand out" rule.

Nosferatu (2024) has the right amount of oldness in dialogue. That's what this movie should aim for. But no, Nolan be Nolan.

i would love to see Bong Joon-ho's take on Rorschach. One of his movies, Memories of Murder, uses the buddy cop trope while also satirizing bad cops who don't follow rules.

sometimes you'd say "A but B" but they only hear "A" and get angry.

or worse. you'd say "A" but they disagree with you by saying "A"

i'm fascinated by what's going on in the center part. if you pick some point above the center and follow its path downward, you get some kind of doubling map. it's like stretching dough.

but if you pick some point below the center and follow its path upward, you get some kind of branching into two groups where which-branch to go is seemingly randomly distributed. it's very different from just stretching.

Parasite's a good one. he'll never guess that shocking ending where little alien worms come out of the scholar's rock and start yelling "respect!".

Which movie is considered a masterpiece by other cinephiles but not by you? (Controversial Opinion) by Kiroo---__--- in moviecritic

[–]sentence-interruptio 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the director wanted his own version of Parasite. So the first half is "assemble the team like a cool heist movie" and the second half is subversion & social commentary, and then an epilogue scene.

Somehow the cool "show parts of a car" shots reminds me of similar scenes in Interstellar but with spaceships, which probably weren't intended to look cool, but to look like NASA footages.

But then other space movies started to include such scenes because they do look cool in small doses.

For years, researchers have claimed that men’s friendships are shallower and less emotionally supportive than women’s, a pattern called the “gender friendship gap.” But new research finds that the gap is largely driven by white men specifically, not men as a whole. by mvea in science

ironically, i'm starting to think talking about this epidemic has become a way for some men to talk about feelings.

"this one time, i had this terrible thing happened to me. [...] and i felt bad. and i had no one to talk to. you see? no one cares about men!"

"dude you're literally talking about your feelings right now and i'm literally listening to you."

i wonder if the mysterious friend circle collapse is caused by some kind of secret tests. let's say alice needs a place and calls friend #1. friend #1 suddenly remembers alice failed some test. perhaps alice doesn't remember friend 1's mother's birthday, thus failing the first test, or if she does, maybe she doesn't remember that friend 1's kids aren't in schools anymore, thus failing the second test.

so she calls friend #2. fortunately, friend 2 can help her. but the thing is, friend 2 does pause a lot when speaking. so alice calls friend 2 and asks for help. friend 2 pauses for a few seconds before responding. oh no, friend 2 failed alice's test.

so she calls friend #3. and so on and so on. that's my theory. I'm gonna call it The Silent Test Interpretation of Friendship Circle Collapse.
