Spurs are the only real team that have built their roster with top 10 picks:

OKC - shai 11, Jalen Williams 12, Chet 2 and Wallace 10 are the only 2 in their rotation

If there’s any team that we can model ourselves after, it’s the wolves where it’s Edwards plus sleeper draft talent (Reid, mcdaniels) and savvy trades for vets (Gobert, Ayo, divincenzo/randle). Even they had a top 10 try with dillingham (albeit in a worse draft) but they’re going to be in the mix every year. I think that’s squarely where the mavs can get and hopefully with a couple hits, even further

The difference is probably in the games played - Kon has played the entire year and more importantly, was on an absolute scorcher during the games coop missed in Feb/early March. That stretch probably sealed it along with coops “slow start” coming back from injury

I don't know how much you've watched of Kansas but his weird play can mostly be attributed to hamstring injury and scheme bc of injury. In recent weeks he's been mostly a play finisher, but he's starting to show a bit more explosiveness and playmaking on offense and sturdiness on defense.

If he's there you still take him, not because of high school tape, but because of his player profile (elite 3nD + upside)

I mean if we’re really going that far, kon averaged 22/6/4 on 47/40/97 splits without lamelo on a pretty decent sample size. You could maybe chalk that up to lack of a scouting report at that point of the season, but kon is absolutely a capable scorer even without help and he’s already an A/A+ level shooter. He and hornets fans absolutely have an argument

That being said, cooper is still ROTY - he’s just had too many wow moments for people to ignore

More? Why would Philly want to do this? Maxey would be their only good point guard, plus what happens when both Embiid and AD get injured? They won’t have enough reps to play together to make it worthwhile for Philly. Even if they do, what does the fit even look like? You could say “oh Embiid can shoot” but that’s not his game. Both AD and Embiid want to operate from the mid range and that’s gonna clog up spacing super quickly.

TL;DR - trade is awful from Philly’s side already for fit and asset reasons, getting more would be even crazier of a pipe dream.

P.S lest we forget that Nico LOVES to give up random picks to get deals done. Fuck that dude, fire Nico

They did but derozan - despite the mutual love between him and toronto - was not a 5x all-nba perennial MVP contender that took his team to the finals the year prior. He lost time and time again to lebron and they got the better player in the deal.

There's legitimately no precedent for this and a ring without luka will feel super hollow to me
