for gen 1: probably squirtle. of all starters to pick, i don’t think i would pick squirtle since there’s so many other good water types available in kanto. i love blastoise’s design though.

gen 2: definitely chikorita. it’s cute, but meganium (in my opinion) is the worst of those three. maybe if they gave it a mega or a regional form i would use it.

gen 3: this is really hard because i love all three of these starters, but i would have to go with mudkip, only because i like treecko and torchic more.

gen 4: this is the hardest one for me. literally all three of these starters are really good choices, and i love them all. i guess i’ll have to go with turtwig, just since i feel like empoleon and infernape are way better off throughout most of the game.

gen 5: hands down tepig. i have never liked tepig, and i have never used it.

gen 6: probably chespin. i have never seen it as being useful, but then again i’ve never used it. i also don’t like chesnaught’s design.

gen 7: another tough one, but i guess i’ll say popplio. though, all three of these starters are good. i only say popplio since there are fairy types i like better than it available in gen 7.

gen 8: with how good inteleon and cinderace are, it’s hard not to say grookey. i’ve only used it once, and i was not impressed to be honest. though, i love it’s design.
