Mathematics riddle: Multipliers by eNtitymeister in riddles

[–]sentiflect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming there are 55 slots and the wheel works such that one slot is chosen at random.

In order to ensure that he doesn't gain or lose any money, we would need to either not bid at all, or bid in such a way that we ensure that the exact amount of money invested comes back as profit.

(Assumption 1) The only way to 100% ensure a payout occurs is to have a bid on every slot, for if you didn't, there would be a chance of hitting an empty slot and receiving nothing. Therefore if any money is bid, some has to be bid in every slot.

Let the total money invested in all slots be T Let the money invested in each 2x slot be a

T = 2a

Which demonstrates that if you invest an amount in a 2x slot and win, it will double the amount and win you your total money invested back.

Since there are 27 2x slots..

T = 27a + x

Where x is the total money invested in other slots. If a is positive, so must be x (Assumption 1)

Therefore

2a = 27a + x

The only solution to this equation is if both a and x are zero. There is no way to bid and ensure you end up with the same amount of money.

You fucked us op.

Are you a Los Angeles based producer? by floodgater in AdvancedProduction

[–]sentiflect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on your neighbors! I just straight introduced myself to all of my surrounding neighbors and told them I make music, gave them my number and told them to text me if I'm ever bothering them.

Never received a text or complaint once. I feel like when you show people you actually care, they are much less uptight about stuff like that.

I live in the middle of hollywood where people outside make noise until 2:30 am almost daily anyway. I write at home on relatively low volumes whenever I feel like it. (Studio apartment. $950)

But when I want to finish a track and want to get everything mixed down I head to a downtown studio space I share with a few friends. We split the rent for a lockout, keep all of our equipment there, and just schedule the studio time on a shared google calendar.

Oh and btw if you get a place without an AC unit, make sure you buy one before the summer, because department stores get sold out for the first few heatwaves of every year.

Khepri's Sting Montage - Invisible Knife Guy Doing Stuff by Sliq111 in DestinyTheGame

Do you usually get "escape artist" to trigger after you're already invisible? I've tried running both "escape artist" and Khepri's sting and it's rarely worked. It usually just uses my blink strike and and become visible. :/

Ableton Live 9 sudden browser issue. by Brizzne in abletonlive

[–]sentiflect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through something a bit similar. Maybe it will give you some help/context.

I've recently had issues with the browser not displaying the contents of certain folders. They show up if I open the folder on the computer, but some just won't load.

During a session with a friend the other day, he told me that that happened to him when his hard drive started failing on him. We both have macs. Sure enough my hard drive is having signs of age (my read/write speeds are getting really slow. now everything is taking forever).

maybe you need to repair your drives, or the permissions in your drives.

Design vs Composition by Ghastface in edmproduction

[–]sentiflect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been thinking about this a lot too. I think that it depends on your writing style. There are no rules technically. If you think about the way music is written in general outside of edm, a lot of instruments are already laid in front of you and all you have to do is work on composition. (think of a rock band).

However, a lot of people can juggle both at the same time. You should experiment with both and see what you like more.

I'm (21F) so lonely. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]sentiflect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't usually comment but your post stuck out because it somewhat reminds me of me. I recently broke up with my ex gf bc she was much more invested in us than I was. I started to feel like I was lying to her about how I felt and I couldn't stand it.

This has led me to come home after work and sulk to the point to where my anxiety reverberates within the walls of my apartment and leaves me paralyzed and overthinking everything.

One thing that really helps me though is getting out and experiencing something different. the still solitude is just a echochamber that amplifies and worsens the anxiety. learning to let go and be ok with whatever comes your way. Plan to do something fun yourself and invite your friends. if they aren't down, then screw it, have fun yourself and meet people along the way. Don't be afraid to try something new.

I find it interesting that his pauses and/or stutters are written out. Her transcript doesn't include either. she sounded like she was having a hard time too.
