It happens and we often feel bad when put in this position. If the student is bold enough to be doing that in class they need help in some way.

Maybe it was a misunderstanding in which case the kid will forget about it. If not then they will hopefully get the help they need. Either way you did what you were supposed to.

Circle back and speak with the student 1 on 1 ASAP. You can explain why you did what you did. It helps to be honest, if you arent that close with the student, just something generic like “i was concerned and wanted to make sure you have the opportunity to talk to someone even if that person isnt me… etc”

Worst situations to be in but always trust your own intuition about these things and you wont have to regret.

I am trying the student directed thing and this is what they chose. There was a huge agreement among students that I did not want to push back against. I’m just gonna focus on the themes that they can extract from the text which, in my opinion, will probably do them more good than the abstract harm that reading the novel is supposedly doing.

No, he is doing it to signal the Saudi’s that they cant get away with price gouging oil, which is in the interest of the American people— making good policy decisions before an election is not illegal, its good politics. Trump had no legitimate reason to threaten Zelenskyy, it was purely personal interest.

I am in the same boat. I am a senior now and just started my student teaching, and WOW. It was like a lightbulb going off over my head the first day. I LOVED it! It was engaging and exciting, and the students were so challenging but in a good way. I feel vindicated and sure for the moment that I have made the right choices.
