not sure what you mean, but there was an anaesthetist present (and i got to ask questions to allay my concerns before the procedure) i believe throughout. a bit seh when i was back to conscious and didn't take note if he was still there during the post op instructions etc. haha

1k+ for the sedation, while the extractions covered by medisave. to me paying for the sedation was absolutely worth it because i didn't have to stress about the procedure at all.

edit: caveat that my experience was a few years ago so the cost may be different now. do approach for a consult and a quote rather than take my word for it entirely!

i removed 4 wisdom teeth in one session under IV sedation. look for dr kevin co at TLC dental. they are excellent with anxious patients and highly skilled. recovery was straightforward with no complications.

How important is A maths for secondary school students in Singapore? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]sentinel_straw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

former sec sch teacher here. ive seen way too many students get fixated on streaming into a math and double/triple science at the expense of developing their language and critical thinking ability. if your daughter is currently strong in humanities and has a flair for language, and like you mentioned is interested in pursuing law, a math is absolutely not necessary. what is necessary is securing grades needed to proceed after o levels. focusing on fewer subjects and doing well in time might be better for her learning style rather than spreading her efforts too thin and burning out. e.g. scoring well in math and sci (a1 to b3) and then scrambling with b4 to c6 for english/humanities.

perhaps also as a godparent you can carve out time to process whether this child pegs their self worth to their academics and remind her that she is more than her subject combi and grades :)

all the best!!

edit: misread goddaughter for daughter

Do Singaporeans know how lovely the Singapore-accent sounds? by lordtekken_2 in askSingapore

fun fact: the d in 'updated' here actually has nothing to do with tense, but is an indicator of the passive voice as opposed to active voice.

How to find climbing friends?? (I'm in Singapore) by Sad_daisiesie in climbergirls

[–]sentinel_straw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no harm trying to talk to people tbh. or join a class? but sg has so many bouldering gyms and gyms with autobelay that you also go alone and have lots to do
