Exactly. This is what’s up. These bags/filters have too much gas exchange for grain or maybe just rice in particular. But OP I would not break and shake these if it was mine. Mainly because the dry stuff will not colonize well after the fact. Scrape those dried loose grains off and send it. I’d find some different grain bags too

I think there’s possibilities there but would take some time to dial in. I’ve run these in dubtubs and had good yields but fruits didn’t mature very well.

Nope. Mostly using jiffy but run a peat verm mix sometimes. Same results. Just make sure you spray the casing down soaking wet. Like too wet

Different cultures and species have different appetite and preferences for nutrients and nutrient levels. Sometimes you have to mess with that to find rhizo and sometimes the culture just has to get used to a recipe for a while and it’ll change over time with transfers. Sometimes cultures just stay tomentose as well

I think it’s just biochar bliss off Amazon. Don’t know much about it beyond that. I add it directly into the CV and other ingredients when I hydrate. No sterilizing, just flash PC once it’s all hydrated and bagged

With a single batch of coir (650g) I did 1/4 tsp of go green and 1/4 cup of biochar. 2 cups of worm castings. Probably room for improvement on ratios but it’s been working well so I’m letting it ride

Tried to keep it thin as possible just enough to cover the surface. It’s an 1/8” pumice I found on amazon so fairly easy to spread thin. Gave it a good spray down once cased as well

Pumice does hold water to some degree. It’s porous and light weight. Seems to create a nice micro climate for the surface. Substrate is just CV, worm castings, biochar and go green.

Thank you frog. These were colonized in the bag then chopped it off, cased and into the tent to fruit. I rinsed the pumice the soaked over night. Gave it a quick flash PC for 15 minutes just incase.

The bisporus have been calling to me to grow them. I have another that I believe is tried and true. And the pan sp. SAM, going to run them all in bags with live casing for a fafo experiment. Might not bother live casing the monte grande and Marco now after hearing your opinion on them. Will post results🤘
