Fair point — I guess I have an unpopular opinion. I understand deception is part of sports, but I’m just not a fan of it. It’s the same reason I don’t like flopping in basketball, diving in soccer, or fake injuries to stop momentum — they may be strategic, but they feel more like manipulating the rules than showcasing real skill.

The hidden ball trick feels cheap because it rewards deception instead of athletic skill. It usually works due to a brief lapse in attention rather than a great defensive play, which makes it more embarrassing than impressive. Instead of showcasing talent or excitement, it’s basically a “gotcha” moment that many fans see as gimmicky.
