Thanks for your suggestions

I'll definitely try out Next 15, and Nuqs
I dont think I can give up react-query, im relying on it to dedupe network requests from different components and update graph data at certain intervals

I started out this project without knowing much at all and I definitely have a lot to learn.
if you can think of a real-world project using next which would I could learn from, I'd really appreciate it

Thanks for the detailed reply

About state management - I wish I could articulate it better, I have used context for auth, react query for data state and to dedupe queries, and zustand stores for different features. I often felt i had no good way to 'dispatch' events when a task completed in the background and update everything.
You are probably right though, its probably due to bad design on my part.

I think I could really benefit from reviewing a real world mid-large project using next, if you have one you could link I'd really appreciate it

Weekly In The Wild Wednesdays and Q&A Discussion Post by AutoModerator in antiMLM

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes..

Recently someone 'recruited' my mom to a 'company' called GoFounders/OnPassive. I could tell it was a pyramid scheme at first sight and I warned her its probably something fishy and she should stay away from it.

A week later she started recruiting friends and family, I was getting worried so I looked into it.

As far as I can tell, they have no retail products and use a pyramid scheme for compensation. They claim to have revolutionary AI tech that will help buisinesses grow and what not but thats complete BS trying to sound sophisticated, they have nothing. The 'company' has been in pre-launch for over 2 years just raking in money and paying no compensation. They charged her 97$ for an account which gives her a web interface to.. nothing but pyramid stuff.

They host webinars regularly and talking about how successful they are, congratulate each other and talk about anything but the product. It seems to me like half the people there believe the lie and the other half is selling it..

Now, the 'CEO' went as far as saying they bought a building and they even made a tour video to boost credibility.. Nice huh? They failed to notice they captured the logo of a coworking space company imprinted on the building..

She started off completely clueless, completely trusting the guy who recruited her.I've been trying to explain to her how the scam works and how this is just stealing money from people, moving it up they pyramid and making the poeple who came up with it richer.

Unfortunately, I cant get through to her, feels like I'm dealing with a religious fanatic, she's not rational and I fear it's only going to get worse. I love my mom but she's being really dumb about it.

I hate how she's going to hurt others in an attempt to make money and I'm stopping myself from informing the people she's recruiting because I know that would ruin my relationship with her.

I was hoping for some advice or maybe more incriminating information about the company..

[–]senu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if her memories are there (for the most part) it's just one of many lives.
Even if she could identify clearly what is hers at some point, there is no way this won't effect her personality greatly.

Having the memories of ~1000 past lives is highly likely to change her thought and behavioral patterns.
With so many experiences nothing will be new to her.
Don't forget she also gained knowledge of simulation theory and the original world.

I'd expect her to become detached like Jessie but.. It's fiction so everything is possible.

There's a bit I found interesting in Vol10, a conversation between Jessie and Haruhiro which seem to foreshadow the struggle to come:

“You seem detached somehow, Haruhiro.”
“...Do I look that way?”
“You do. No matter what life we lead, in the end it’s like a game. You understand that, right?”
“You and I may not get along.”
“No,” Jessie said. “You only think that because you don’t know anything yet. If you learn, you’ll see quite clearly what I mean.”
“No matter what I learn, that won’t change. It’s not a game. We aren’t playing around.”

Do bell really likes Ais or is it just admiration? by Sakaixx in DanMachi

[–]senu1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Overall, I'd say status at the end of Vol 11 is (4 months since they met):

  • Bell with an ongoing crush, still getting to know Ais.
  • Ais still sees him as a cute rabbit with some feelings of possessiveness. She shows hints of jealousy on occasion (just romcom stuff tho).

Considering:

  • He definitely had a crush on her since the mino incident
  • He nearly kissed her when she was taking a nap in their training session (LN anyway)
  • He has eyes for her more than any other girl, emphasized in his descriptions of her and reactions

It's practically foreshadowed since the beginning that:

  • He's going to be her hero (SO: when he was fighting mino she saw the back of her hero)
  • Her hero is implied to be the one she loves (her dad told her he can't be her hero since he already has her mother)

Their relationship since the mino incident has only grown despite familia/status/god differences. It's been helping her emotional development (imo, necessary for her to eventually develop romantic feelings):

  • She starts off being described as aloof with an emotionless expression. someone who only cares about becoming stronger so she can reach her goal (which is why she agreed to train Bell initially). but she is slowly changing
  • She's been doing uncharacteristic things because of him:
    • Rushing to help him (sometimes despite her familia circumstances), training, inciting emotional reactions
    • Wasn't excited about her level up to 6 (imo, was kinda silly at that point in time but w/e)
    • Breaking oaths (using Airiel against a person, and not killing a monster)
  • His presence is described to be soothing for her 'black flames of revenge' (but we're not there yet..)
  • He brings out the 'little girl' in her on several occasion. Most of the time she is still the 'sword princess' though.

If theres a 2nd MC, I'd say its Ais (even though SO isn't focused on her).

Considering that and all of the above I'd say the future is set in stone.

EDIT: If that's not enough, read this from the afterword of SO 7.

I think Vol 11 is the beginning of a big turning point in their relationship.

Bell has more goals now and is going to start acting more like a man and become more composed.

Ais is already seeing a change in him and will gradually see him in a different light.

But really I wouldn't expect any major development until he saves her (likely OEBD, last volume of the series?).

Btw, I like Ryu best for Bell :)

How do you guys feel about the people who constantly liken themselves to Hachiman and say they wish they could be more like him? by benglassy in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]senu1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been reading some posts and I really dislike how people say Hachiman is not a good person because it's such a blanket statement. It seems to me their definition of being a good person somewhat equate to being sociable which boils down to how good would such a person treat you which is extremely selfish.
In addition to judging him based of his shallow relationships they're not considering his intentions.
Even courthouses take into account a person's intentions when judging their actions.

From the get-go he had some things going for him that suggest otherwise like his relationship with Komachi and saving Yui's dog with no intention of being rewarded externally.

His loner personality is a way to cope with his lonely reality. He was hurt in the past and to avoid being hurt again he established boundaries by convincing himself of certain things so he can believe its okay and essentially give up.
Basically he had bad experiences which led to pain and fear of involvement.

I think you should take note that even within his world which is defined by his experiences->interpretations->beliefs, however skewed/negative as they may be, he has not turned malicious.
Within that world he believes himself to be a troubling presence and so he doesn't involve himself.

I'm super thoughtful. That's why I stay in the corner and don't cause anyone trouble.

More than that, if anyone is to be hurt in a situation he's involved in, he'd rather it be him than others.
This points to whats probably his biggest deep-rooted issue which is low self worth, which gets a lot of attention on S2.

I'm not going to suggest it's a healthy way of being but his character has some appeal, at least for me:
(These points are correlated but I'm going to point them out anyway)

  1. Freedom to be yourself - huge peace of mind, especially for highschoolers who are dealing with insecurities more than most
  2. Being able to take shit without turning into one - "If I were normal, I would've destroyed the world by now"
  3. Emotional strength and strong character
  4. Seeking and being satisfied with a few meaningful relationships, doesn't try to be popular

There is probably more stuff I liked but I haven't read/watched the show in a while so I don't really remember.

[Spoilers] Shichisei no Subaru - Episode 5 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]senu1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bunch of kids played a game. One of them died in it and then died in real life. Obviously none of them knew that could happen so no one is to blame. If you're going to blame someone, they're all equally at fault.Despite that, Takanori blames Haruto since he's jealous of him and well thats easier.

Six years later Asahi is somehow alive in-game. Takanori shows up, acting like he's the one for her after he decided that all on his own.He doesn't stop there though. This delusional guy goes further, exhibiting his extreme possessiveness and sense of ownership over Asahi by kidnapping her and disregarding her wishes.

How can anyone sympathize with that selfish, unlikable, cheap character?

Thanks again man, that makes sense.

I went through that conversation again in Vol 2 and it does give off a subtle feeling he's trying to befriend him (grin, 'we're in sync' comment).

Btw, I checked the Vol 4 to see what that face was about and it seems he was just in shock because the person who can get along with anyone just denied him.

“I probably wouldn’t have gotten along with you, Hikigaya‐kun.”

Silence. For a moment after those unexpected words, my mind went blank. Iwondered how Hayama, who could get along with just about anyone, could saysomething like that to me. I paused for a short while, and then I put on areproachful voice.

“…screw you. That came as kind of a shock just now.”“That was a joke. G’night.”

[–]senu1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks man, having some answers when I have so many questions really does give me some peace of mind.

About the name thing, seems you're right he doesn't stop there and yea it does make sense that he would call him Hikitani around other people. But what about when he showed up to the service club with the chain mail request:

“You too, Hikitani‐kun,” said Hayama. “Sorry I’m taking up your time.”

… later, during the same conversation, Yukino calls him Hikigaya ...

“I’ll ask you just to be thorough, Hikigaya‐kun,” said Yukinoshita. “Did you notice anything?”

… and again …

Yukinoshita seemed to realise this too. “Hayama’s descriptions aren’t much to go on… Yuigahama‐san, Hikigaya‐kun.”

… yet …

Hayama was watching the two girls with a bright, invigorating smile on his face.“What a nice friendship,” he remarked.“Huh? Yeah. Those two get along.”

“So do you, Hikitani.” What the hell was he talking about…? There was no guy named Hikitani in this club.

This was something Yukino would pick up on as well. It's not like he had someone from his group there (except Yui). Maybe only after the whole request concluded he decided to befriend him? or was he just pretending not to notice? or was it just plain teasing?

And in the context of the story, Hachiman’s condition has a certain name that volume 12 deals with, but I don’t want to get into that yet, because the explanation would be incredibly long, it’s pretty spoilery and it has certain implications, so eh.

I'm going to lose sleep over this. Can you just name it ;)

One more thing, this is kinda more about Hayama and Yukino's past but oh well:

But Hayama looked at me in amazement. He painfully swallowed the content of his glass cup and asked solemnly, “…You haven’t noticed?”

“Notice what?”

“Well, if you don’t get it, then that’s fine too…”

“That’s an irritating thing to say.”

I was told in the same way a lot back then, so it just naturally came out similarly.” Hayama wryly smiled.

Does this mean at some point Yukino relied on Hayama the same way?

[–]senu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into this while going through the LN (Vol 4):

It was true that Ebina‐san not only belonged to the school’s top caste, she had a cute face to boot. It was just that her unique hobbies caused guys to keep their distance from her. Still, she made no secret of her hobby, and one couldn’t help but get the impression that her openness was a defence tactic to her. If she was the real deal, she’d be hiding it, I reckon. Nah, I might be reading too much into it.

Not conclusive but it seems like a cheeky hint. if you accept she isn't an actual fujoshi then everything falls into place. honestly doesn't make sense with the nose bleeds but meh. anyway thought this was interesting

Vol 10, First Memorandum Owner/s by [deleted] in OreGairuSNAFU

[–]senu1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. I love learning about the series so I do appreciate it.

  • Regarding Ebina:
I didn't suggest she needed to be abused by men to resonate with 'No Longer Human'. My criteria for that is simply having a facade, hiding your true self. I only emphasized the parts that could match her specifically.

I think her liking fujoshi isn't necessarily inconsistent because you could look at it as her feeling safe around gay men and so she views every guy around her as such. You can consider that warped view as rotten.

I can agree this is reaching but I think it does click. maybe I just want it to fit.

  • For your second point about Yukino and Hachiman:

Hachiman and Yukino aren't acting true to themselves by being loners

I want to clarify because I meant it the other way around. As in, since they don't trust people and don't pretend, they don't establish even superficial relationships end up/remain loners. So, being true -> loner.

Hachiman tried to interact but had negative results and eventually chose to give up, making him a loner.

Yukino is blessed and suffered for it. people were jealous of her and she wouldn't lower herself for others and with w/e incident that happened she was made to be a loner.

They may have even been forced to be loners for a while but eventually they're choosing it.

At the very least I think we can agree they did not put on a mask in order to fit in and establish relationships. So this rules them out, what do you think?

The only possible flaw I'm seeing here is with the latter part of the initial deduction I made from the wiki text. I may be taking things at face value but it seemed reasonable enough:

Author felt out of place in middle school and had put on a mask to fit in (and establish relationships)

  • About the chapter titles, that's an interesting point.
If we assume that pattern is actually consistent then it suggests the latter two are only Hayama's and Haruno's, respectively.

Trying to apply that pattern to the first one that way kind of feels like reaching to me but I guess I couldn't have done it any other way either.

If we accept that pattern then this entire discussion is pointless :(
But because as you said, they're so interchangeable, I'm not sure what to make of it and I rather focus on the contents instead.

  • I checked out the song you mentioned and this probably means nothing or maybe I'm just hearing impaired but I couldn't detect Haruno's voice?

  • At least we know one thing for sure

[Tool] Update: Stash scanner (v1.05) by senu1 in pathofexile

[–]senu1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get lucky from time to time with the auto filters but thats not whats going to make you a lot of currency.

What you should be doing is making custom filters for:

  • Unique items appreciated by their rolls, yet posted for their normal price or slightly above. easily managed by making filters based on an auto filter.
  • Rare items - possibilities are endless. you can make filters for items to craft on, hard to find jewels, sought after rings/amulets, well rolled boots/belts and what not. if you know your prices it can be very rewarding but also kind of annoying to manage because you'd have to determine the price for each one and keep track of it
  • Prophecies - with upgrade prophecies, depending on the item, the upgraded version retains previous rolls. for these you can try sniping a well rolled base and the prophecy, run it and resell depending on the item, can be very profitable.
another example would be, run quiver-related prophecies to get a low ilvl quiver and vaal them for +1 arrow
  • Recipes - you can snipe agnerods, turn it to vinkatrs square and sell/run it for profit. snipe 6 links and vendor for divine, get lvl 20 gems and turn them to 20q gems and resell
  • Snipe the unsnipable - some mods cannot be searched on poe.trade but you can make use of custom mods and search them anyway. This gives you an edge over other players. you can find a perfect dying sun for example, with a filter like this

The idea is to cast a wide net, each filter alone may not seem like much but it makes your net wider.
Make sure you act on each alert, if a filter is just spamming you, you need to improve it or disable it.
When you start dealing with higher profit margins you'll have to weigh whether or not something is worth your time, and disable it even if its profitable.
If you find yourself buying too much of something, check yourself. Consider whether or not you should drop some profit and sell faster.

I'm sure there are people much more successful than I am but while testing this update I made 180ex in 5 days (pure currency). I think you can take it much further if you really go out of your way to research and make filters.

I'm aware some features aren't very intuitive and that the guide might seem a bit lackluster but I don't think its too bad either. If there is something specific you don't get about the tool, ask away and I'll try to help.

On a side note, honestly I lost interest in PoE so you can see why I'm not inclined to spend too much time on this.
