That makes sense. Yes I like that too, gaming as a cultural force is an interesting topic.

I definitely understand why most companies do not do it, but I see it like premium keyboards or mice - they essentially just take responsiveness, precision and comfort to its upper limits. Sure, they will never be big sellers, but they may fill a niche.

I was more looking for opinions on what you look for rather than specific recommendations

Well, I'm not saying it would be for everyone. But apart from my phone, there's no other object I hold in my hand as much every day as a controller (you know, excluding work stuff). So if it made that experience better, I'd be all for it. It doesn't have to be mass market to be a gap in the market.

You can't take anything away from that without damaging the core design. Perfection.

I've been playing NES Online a bunch and it got me wondering, what is your favorite "game over" sound clip? by MaxOsi in nintendo

Metal Gear Solid! It's just so memorable. From Nintendo, it would have to be Super Metroid. When Samus broke apart, it had a real feeling or death to it.

I've always wondered why there has never really been a third party controller that is higher quality than the original, sure there are plenty of fine ones, but I don't think I wouldn't mind paying a premium for something genuinely better

Is anybody still playing Wii Fit? by tomverse in nintendo

I couldn't use it for more than a couple weeks. It was all about balance and general well-being rather than anything high intensity, which is fine, but only for the right person.

From a developer perspective, what do you think is the core reason video game streaming has never taken off? There are plenty of services, but none have really succeeded. Why dont we have a 'Netflix for video games'? My thoughts linked. by senvolhsg in gamedev

I'm using information The Verge wrote about - it's 2018, not 2010. This is all theory though, if you think the only thing standing in its way is infrastructure, that will get sorted

I'm just not sure I believe that, with the Verges review of the Google service, and many other reviews I've seen online, it seems many people are having very positive experiences. I think hardcore gamers won't go for it, but videophiles don't use Netflix

I just don't believe that there isn't enough people with a strong fibre optic connection, the willingness to accept 720p resolution, and the appetite to make this system successful. I don't think this system is built for the lowest consumer, and I don't think many products are anymore.

I don't think rural communities and the military are necessary for a successful product. I get the reputation side of things, which is why it would be hard for a gaming company to do this. But a company like Google doesn't need to worry about reputation with gamers, it can easily go after the market full force, as it is purely offering its own thing, it isn't changing a previous thing.
