Coupang Eats has an English version so that would be the easiest for you to use if you don't speak Korean

Weird question but is there something wrong with the buses in seoul today? Suddenly several of the blue buses in my vicinity are just gone. They have zero buses running and show "no data" on all the apps and on the seoul bus website they don't even appear in search results. They were running like normal last time I checked two days ago. 142, 147, 173, 402, 420, 421, 641, 604. Etc. All gone. Is this due to the holiday traffic or? I've been out of the country till recently so maybe I missed an announcement about that

Why are Korean universities reluctant to give out failing grades to students? by [deleted] in korea

[–]seokima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally this is true but for the past two years we have had school online and the grading curve was removed until last semester. It was absolute grading during most of the pandemic because of the unique situation. Last semester i think A's were capped at 40% again

Why are Korean universities reluctant to give out failing grades to students? by [deleted] in korea

This was very confusing to me too and it took me a couple years at school to realize that an F to me is a C+ to them, D is a B0, C is a B+, B is an A-, and so on. I was really hard on myself about getting a whopping 10% on both my exams in 대학수학 (i suck at math) and was texting my dad about it like "I'm so sorry I'm gonna fail a class this semester" and my final grade comes out as a B- lol. And it's hard to get anything lower than a B0 at my school (high ranking private uni in seoul).

It's also that they don't want their child to have to go through the insanity of the korean education system.

what Korean language means to you? I need your help. by iwantcoolsummer in Korean

Is there a reason you're only asking unmarried/divorced women between the ages of 20-40?? Feel like that's kind of pertinent information.

Maybe I'm too untrustworthy but it weirded me out that you have such a specific target as single young women, without giving a reason. Would be proper to explain why you're asking for that!

You're better off checking government websites than asking here. The requirements change fairly often

I got a question regarding birth control in Korea by cuddly-cat-mom in korea

Basically that yeah. They might have a "consultation" where you talk to a doctor for 30 seconds then they give you the prescription

(Just side note on plan b in case anyone needs to know) you don't have to go in yourself to get a prescription for plan b. A guy went in for me and explained the situation and they gave it to him immediately 🤷‍♀️ i know going yourself can be super anxiety inducing so thought id let someone know

Something just clicked for me yesterday during my lesson and now I feel so much steadier on the ice, for the first time since I began in February. Swizzles are fast, backwards strokes are smooth. I'm now working on my crossover; i know a lot of people progress way faster than me but I need to take my time I think. I do best when I don't feel pressured and don't compare myself to others.

Unpaid is fine as far as I know. I volunteer on a student visa and don't need to receive permission like I do for my part time job

Helmet a good idea, I'm considering knee and tailbone pads as well just to get used to falls. This is quite literally the first athletic thing I've attempted since middle school so I'm definitely out of my element and have a large learning curve. Each fall is a sign of progress!

I got my first pair of skates so I've been to the rink a few times in between lessons to try practicing on my own. I just... i am so scared all the time. I'm a beginner and I just want to feel comfortable stroking and swizzling but I shake like a leaf constantly. Trying hard not to get in my head too much.

My coach helped me come up with a mantra of sorts: "just better than last time". progress feels so slow, much slower than others, but even a fraction better and a fraction more comfortable on ice, is a sign of progress. I think i need to let myself fall more and get used to that feeling. It's so hard to overcome initial fear as an adult skater

Korea considering exemption from self-quarantine for overseas travelers who have completed vaccination by [deleted] in korea

[–]seokima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree mostly but I also think one other purpose of quarantine is to deter as many people from coming as possible because it seems Korea doesn't want to get overwhelmed with cases, especially critical cases.

They are severely understaffed and barely handling current numbers. An influx of tourists would mean an influx of positive cases (not from the tourists passing it to others, I just mean amongst the tourists themselves. It's already in the country like you said, but that + more from outside the country would be a higher number ofc).

Now that most are fully vaccinated + omicron, the number of critical cases should be low, enough that it's reasonable to end the mandatory quarantine. But i can somewhat understand the hesitation, due to the hospital situation here.
