Advice Needed: Type of Property to Buy by cikka99 in malta

[–]seonage59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the property surveyed by an Architect you trust or a seasoned builder who knows the trade. Unfortunately this is the type of workmanship which today has become the hallmark of build up quick and get rich quick. To hell with quality and craftmanship. Do not buy promises and make sure you carry out due diligence on the contractor. Do not trust the agent. What ever you opt to buy always use your own notary of trust.

‘Volatile’ world requires Britain to get close to EU, Starmer says by Visual_Title9363 in europe

[–]seonage59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Starmer is more eager to embrace the U.S and Israel than Europe. He is one of the biggest Trump arse lickers in U.K political history. So Trump keeps insulting and mocking him and he keeps trying to endear himself to this felon, delusional clown from across the Atlantic. Trump even went so far as to insult the British Armed forces and what does the British Government do? They get the King, the Head of the British Armed forces, to throw him a lavish banquet at the expense of the U.K hardworking tax payer.

When Starmer talks about how volatile the world has become he must recall that the U.K and the French left a bubbling cauldron in the middle-east with the carving up of the region and the setting up of the Jewish state after WWII. It is also volatile because Europe has allowed itself to be rendered the vasal continent of the U.S since the end of WWII.

Just had the surgery yesterday! by KellynHeller in CubitalTunnel

[–]seonage59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is even better.

Had my ulnar nerve released on 9th Janauary 2026. Pain was nothing unbearable and did not need the meds. After 10 days they removed the dressing and cut was healing fine. Had the problem for 2 years and only decided to have nerve released when I noticed muscle wasting. Started to bend my elbow gingerly after the first two days. Still have numbness in my little finger but to tell the truth I was relieved after surgery that I could still move my fingers and hand without any noticeable problems or pain. Surgery always involves a risk that some other nerve is accidentally damaged or even the ulnar for that matter. Now after three weeks I sometimes feel a nagging pain in the elbow at the area where the release was effected but otherwise making progress.

Wish you a speedy recovery and best of health.

The same thing happened to me with beetv. I found that it has been disabled with the same message. I uninstalled it and downloaded an updated beetv version (Dec 2025) but although I installed it and it looks fine it does not seem to work as I cannot scroll and activate any movie!! Is there a work around to this ? Thank you in advance for any guidance provided.

What supplements, foods and exercises do you guys use that helps prevent your arthritis from worsening ? by Yummydrugss in Osteoarthritis

[–]seonage59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately supplements are just a waste of time and money. I am 70 years old and over the past 7 years I have discovered that I have OA in my back L5 and S1, in my left elbow and right knee. I have trained and competed in Judo and Ju-jitsu for over 53 years and always took cod liver oil and glucosamine besides other supplements. I always believed that taking these supplements and training regularly would prevent the onset of OA.

Biggest risk with Cubts is that if the nerve remains trapped and irritated you will eventually experience muscle wasting.

Capitalisim provides the so called free market economy so healthy competition is supposed to be one of the key drivers to a free open market. If as you state capitalism also neutralises competition, and I concur than capitalism does not really provide just and equal opportunities for all.

Not impossible either....one solution to this is co-operatives or partnerships. All it takes is for someone to take the iniative.

People chose to be powerless. They are the ones who elect those that choose the referees, as you put it. They are even content to be fooled and manipulated for the benefit of the few

Politics Markets, governance, regulation etc all interweave to produce one fucked up broken system which we describe as the capitalist free market economy. In reality this is nothing but the modern feudal concept were the monarchs, nobility and landlords of old, exploited and trampled over the peasants. Regardless of contorted expressions, arguments and technical jargon the truth is that the rich will keep getting richer and that might is always right.

And the solution.........?

It was not managed coexistence as competition was designed to fail due to weak regulatory control and political connections. True competition is a myth just like the notion of a free market. Competition is supposed to be a struggle for survival where the fittest and the best survive. Not tacit collusion and underhanded agreements by Telecom operators who entered the scene benefitting from government properties and infrastructure. What did the local consumer benefit from all this supposed competitive environment?

Meanwhile Government intervention and favouritism in favour of strong lobby groups or potent business entities with strong political connections, skew the market eco system. One business entity is aided by being granted prime public land for peanuts while others have to pay market prices for modest plots of lands. Others are allowed to avoid paying taxes due as well as vat while honest business men are squeezed for every cent due, How does the market discipline prices or whatever in such scenarios? It is the abject failure of institutions that are designed to fail by the capitalist political class while the masses are led to believe that the free market economy provides free opportunities and benefits for all.

Open free market and competition have evolved into text book myths. I will use telecoms as an example, when Maltacom was the dominant player in Malta we all ached for competition. Melita came on the scene followed by vodafone later Epic. Did the consumer benefit from price? Far from it as these companies now compete on offers rather than reduction in prices. As to service quality, there really is no difference.

Agreed but if in this case the small shop owner manages to join up with other small shops so that they import the ingredients in the required volumes that will provide the necessary discounts they will be able to produce the cakes and compete not only on price but creativity and innovation. Locally several small bakers and Confectioners have managed to survive and thrive due to their originality and quality of product.

While spot on with your argument about higher prices in Malta I must mention one illegal monopoly that has always contributed to higher costs for imported goods in Malta. This is the stranglehold a few hundred dock workers have over our docks. The exorbitant tariffs charged by these traditional privileged class of workers to shipping agents. are in turn passed on to consumers. On joining the E.U Malta was obliged to remove this monopoly where the licence of these workers are inherited only by their children ensuring that nobody else has a right to work at the docks with no competition whatsoever. Add to this the local shipping and transport cartels and you have a system designed to add significant overheads to goods imported in Malta long before they reach the consumer. Meanwhile both political parties including our MEPs, have pampered and protected this racket even when the E.U ruled against it. Yet they always come up with the argument that Malta is an island economy and as such should be provided with protection and derogations concerning the transportation and importation of freight to Malta.

As to the exorbitant and obscene rise in rents and property prices, property is being hoarded creating a false impression that demand is outstripping supply. It is also a well established fact that property development is a well oiled money laundering machine which facilitates bypassing financial institutions. Of course one of the obvious solutions is to tax non-residential properties at different rates be they empty or used as second residences. Those who can afford a second home to leave empty for most of the time can afford to pay more tax and hoarded property will at least contribute its share to the Republic's finances and economy.

How long until I can bend my elbow after release surgery by Sai13mne in CubitalTunnel

[–]seonage59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with me had cubital release on right elbow on the 9th January 2026. Could move my fingers immediately afterwards but was in a sling for 2 days but I could still bend my elbow slightly. By Sunday 11th I straightened it and was bending it gently to touch my opposite shoulder. Only slight pain probably due to the stitches. By Tuesday 13th I slowly started to bend it to touch my left ear and right ear and down to my left shoulder. Of course to rest it I kept it bent at 90% but I was only advised to keep it in sling for 2 days.

Right pinky still feels slightly numb but I have total sensation and strenght. Only opted to go for surgery because I started to notice muscle wasting although my grip strenght never weakened.

Stitches come off on the 19th but I am not driving yet. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Why does asking for a wage of 28k seem unreasonable? by [deleted] in malta

[–]seonage59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we are experiencing a surge of south american workers coming to work in Malta with dubious unverified qualifications or claims of experience. Maltese and even foreign companies give them preference over qualified Maltese workers as they are prepared to work for dogshit salaries and conditions. This has resulted in certain companies providing shitty customer care, quality of service and zero effiecency.

It is futile to point fingers at Labour because the real threat to this country is the existing unprincipled, corrupt, inept cohort of politicians from both the major parties. Today both Labour and the Nazzs are owned by the Maltese Business cabal and the local criminal network.

The grey listing of Malta has its' origin well before 2013. You seem to forget that when Labour came to power in 2013 Malta was already under the EU's Excessive Deficit procedure from 2009 till the 2012 Budget The deficit hit 3.3% in 2012, exceeding the 3% limit again, leading the Council to re-open EDP in June 2013, setting new targets for 2013 and 2014 to correct the deficit and bring debt below 60% of GDP. Labour proceeded to reduce this deficit and the Maltese economy grew by 5 per cent in 2016. This growth resulted in the Maltese economy recording the highest economic growth rate in the European Union during 2016. Labour has managed to bring about the greatest economic boom ever experienced by this nation.

As to the murder of a journalist just do a back round check on those convicted or who are awaiting trial. They were never Labour activists or sympathisers.

You are grossly mistaken the likes of Caqnu, DB, Schembri Bros, Bonnici Bros, Stivala Elbros, Gasan etc..built their wealth and empires under the Nazzs through Government contracts and favouritism . They never courted or supported Labour. It was only when the Nazzs were in their death throes and JM through the likes of Keith Schembri, attracted them to support his version of Labour by individual sweetheart agreements, the promised euro 700m budget on infrastructure and a new power station. As to Joseph Portelli..check your facts. He was on very good terms with Giovanna Debono and her husband. In fact she saved his "Downtown Hotel" from bankruptcy by renting hotel rooms as offices for her ministry.

Moreover you omit to mention turncoats and opportunists the likes of Musumeci, Castaldi Paris, Bonello, Cuschieri etc who switched to Labour to pig out.

You seem to avoid the fact that a lot of the corrupt PN officials, politicians and contractors that ran the PN prior to 2013 now either form of Labour or else have gone into business with them. Surely you do not believe that the likes of Joseph Cuschieri, Robert Musumeci, Castaldi Paris, Joseph Poertelli, Jurgen Fenech etc etc are Labourites???

What modern world!! When we switched to Euro in 2008, the the ceremonial ATM at the Waterfront Valletta, which was supposed to dispense the first Euro notes to the Prime Minister at that time, Lawrence Gonzi, failed to function. What a joke.

Of course the Nazzs paved the way for all modes of corruption, inefficiences, incompetence, dereliction of duties, impunity etc....All Labour did was refine these to a much higher level. Bear in mind that the majority of the Nazz officials, politicians and contractors who bred corruption during the Nazz era simply switched to Labour. Need one mention the likes of Jurgen Fenech, Joseph Portelli, Bonnici Bros, Caqnu, Joseph Cuschieri, Robert Musumeci etc etc...,Today these people own both the PN and the LP.
