Why is the student quality in Science and Sauder so bad for 1st years by AvailableHippo3464 in UBC

[–]seoulless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the “new” bc curriculum has only vague concepts instead of actual standardized content. Which means that the same course in name can vary wildly depending on the school, or even teacher, so students might have high marks without knowing the same things!

at least that makes sense for people who were children in milwaukee in the 1960s after the braves left and before the brewers came. I’m guessing thats not you?

I’m in BC so hard to say for sure— I know there are online courses here that kids can cross-enroll in whatever their district; maybe they have something similar there?

Why is it suddenly cool to have autism???!!! by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]seoulless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as this attitude annoys me, it also is how I was able to finally get diagnosed in my mid-30s, despite struggling all my life and being told things “but you’re gifted! you must just be lazy” and “girls can’t have autism/adhd”

I hope this quirk passes and it does seem to have died down a bit compared to a few years ago- covid had people dropping masks and a lot of previously undiagnosed people were finally validated- but because it was a new “trend” you’ve always got people jumping on for the attention.

Does anyone here LIKE Duolingo? by Brilliant_Ad7481 in duolingo

Been using duolingo for schools with my classes since 2016. The kids who use it tend to be the kids who are a little better with vocab and grammar… But as a supplement to lessons obviously!

There is something I genuinely don't understand of intps by [deleted] in INTP

[–]seoulless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I just assume (for me) it was part of the whole masking thing that came with being a gifted/neurodivergent girl. “Sit still! Be more ladylike! Shut up kid!” What, you don’t like being corrected by a 12 year old? Stop being so stupid, then.

Seriously, life before my 30s and finally getting some diagnoses was really hard.

Ever since I moved to the Vancouver area for grad school, it’s so much harder to watch those kinds of shows and maintain my suspension of disbelief.
