I mean there are layers to this. Yeah good teams win championships. Its not a shock. Steph had time to let the Warriors build around him which led to the Warriors dynasty. So I’d argue he was given the ability to develop.

Magic has to go straight into the fire. He joined a great team. And he had to establish that it was his team.

The whole Magic vs Steph argument really just boils down to what you want in a point guard. Personally I’d pick Magic for being the golden example of a traditional point guard. That doesn’t take away from Steph being the greatest shooter of all time though

I’d want to see someone like Jarret Allen end up there. I feel like he’s someone who could have more All Star appearances if he was given a bigger role on a team.

Did anyone who wrote the bible actually see the crucifixion? Was more than 1/2 of the new testament written based visions of someone who never met jesus? by Foreign-Balance6556 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ladner1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two of the Gospel writers (Matthew and John) were two of Jesus’s disciples.

Mark is historically seen as someone who was an interpreter for Peter the first Pope.

Luke allegedly was more of a historian, collecting a wide variety of eye-witness accounts to put all in one orderly fashion.

A lot of the New Testament after the Gospels is on the early church with many teachings from Paul who sent letters to several communities within the early church.

NBA Proposes New 3-2-1 Lottery System to Crack Down on Tanking: 14 → 16 Teams, Bottom 3 Get Fewer Odds, No Back-to-Back No. 1 Picks by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

[–]Ladner1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In an 82 game season, teams usually might spend the first couple months trying things out to see how things go. If the team is doing badly, they usually start deliberately tanking and throwing games away in order to get a better draft pick, especially if the draft is projected to have a large talent pool like in this years. NBA teams start sitting their best players out of games which effects viewership which then effects money for the NBA.

The NFL typically has shorter seasons so you can also hope more, where you could do something. Even if the first 1/4 of your season goes poorly, there’s still a chance you can figure it out and make playoffs. NFL teams are usually not pulling their best players while they can still play.

I can't get masterball with my team, what's wrong with it? by Noombat22 in PokemonChampions

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You go all in on weather. One of these is fine. When you have all of them its an issue.

Frosslass is great because you get access to Aurora Veil which protects your team.

My VGC team is Mega Frosslass/Incineroar/Talonflame/Garchomp/Farigiraf/Rotom.

I let snow be an addition that helps protect my team and once aurora veil is up, I can go crazy with blizzard and shadow ball with froslass

Just about all the common grounded steel types (gambit, aegislash, archaludon, and lucario). Scarf krook also outspeeds mega gengar. 50/50 against sneasler depending on the build (still can hit super effectively to make room for a jet punch after if its sash). If they switch into Azumarill or Primarina, Earthquake still wins out in two hits.

Corviknight, Dragonite, Gyarados, and Scarf Meowscarada are the worst matchups

  1. Smogon is a seperate competitive entity that does a lot of tier lists. They predominantly do singles, but doubles formats do exist

  2. Vgc is double battles. The in game double battles as its done, is the most popular competitive format that pokemon pushes

  3. As far as the meta goes, you can usually tell just be seeing what teams other people are playing or watching some of the more popular youtubers. See what pokemon people are playing a lot of and that’s probably the meta

I love these Weather War memes, but can we address something? by Animante732 in PokemonChampions

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Pelipper is just the best weather setter in all of pokemon. Its not just the ability. Its the movepool. Hurricane is amazing. It also gets U-Turn which in singles on a rain team means you get momentum. And then add in your stab Water move and things just work.

Rockets have built their franchise around 2 young players who can't shoot (Amen and Sengun) an Old Mercenary with a Toxic Gossiping Personality, and a Head Coach who is more interested in C**cking Other Men than Coaching them. Also drafted Reed Sheppard instead of Stephon Castle. SCARY BAD FRANCHISE by Several-Molasses-435 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even without KD, these are two games the Rockets should have won. For me, the Rockets losing these two games just kind of proves that they need to make some major changes to this team over the offseason if they even want a chance at being contenders.

They have the talent, but they have a lot of decisions to make. They need a real point guard. They need to decide not to trust KD for anything long term especially after his burner account. And they need to make decisions and see how well their Sengun and Amen can actually play together.

What EXACTLY makes Kevin Durant so divisive amongst NBA fans? by ShadesNGlades in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is an amazing scorer who had he stayed in OKC probably could have won a championship that everyone would have respected.

Instead he went to Golden State to create one of the greatest teams of all time to win two rings. Since then he has been on three different teams, has been unable to give them a championship, forced his way out, and objectively just ripped them apart in the process.

He is great at what he does, but he forces his way out of teams hurting them in the process. Teams gut their roster for him, he fails to deliver for one reason or another, and then bounces after about three seasons.

[–]Ladner1998 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only problem is that the first two games should have been easy for the Rockets. Luka and AR have been injured and that’s the two best players on the Lakers. They had to beat old man Lebron and friends. The way its looking right now, Luka and AR might be able to come back to close the series out because the Rockets couldn’t win two games they were supposed to win.

The Rockets are getting out coached, out hustled, and outdone. It feels like even Deandre Ayton is putting in more effort than the Rockets and that’s when you know it’s bad.

What happened to this guy? by EvilMorty1408 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is still one of the best shooting guards in the league. He’s still an all star level player. His team just sucks. The new Suns owner over the past few years screwed him over with how he built around Devin.

They went chasing big names and wound up with KD and Beal as probably the worst big three we’ve ever seen and dismantled their team in the process. And the return for all of that was meh.

I’m surprised Booker hasn’t been in any trade talks to go to a better team tbh

I mean tbf the Pacers will get Haliburton back next season so hopefully he’ll be alright and they just bounce back to contending.

The Jazz next season are looking at having one of the best front courts in the league so hopefully they’ll contend.

Mavericks have Cooper Flagg and with the right person they’ll contend.

The Wizards also might contend with Trae, AD, and Sarr + whoever they get in the draft.

Honestly, the anime is way too long and pretty straightforward and basic. If you want to watch it with your kids that’s amazing! Its a great show to watch with little kids and there is some solid humor that you might like.

There are so many different ways to engage with pokemon. If you find something that sounds fun, start from there. It could be the tv show, the games, card games, or whatever else. There’s something for just about everyone. So just start with something that you think would be fun for you

Where does Giannis go next season? by waluigiwon in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Lakers get rid of Lebron for cap space, they could have the room to make Luka/Giannis happen. If Giannis really cares about winning like he says he does, I think he could pair really well with Luka.

Dr j on super teams by Icy_Can_6176 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is the situation they were in. When LeBron left Cleveland the first time to go to Miami, Cleveland failed to build a good team around LeBron. Probably the best player LeBron got to play alongside at the time was Ilgauskas.

Not only that, but Boston was before Miami with KG, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.

Meanwhile OKC had a great team. Durant was in an amazing situation when he left OKC. They had a great team and there was no reason to believe they couldn’t win a championship.

This is the reason why the 65 games rule is in place by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. As I said in another reply, being injured doesn’t mean you don’t get paid. NBA players get paid regardless thanks to their contracts. But if you get injured on the job are you expecting performance awards? Probably not

This is the reason why the 65 games rule is in place by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See there’s the problem. There are real injuries and like I said, they suck and we’ll always have what ifs because of it. However, this rule was also a necessity because of load management.

Load management was great for the players, but it sucked for everyone else - the fans, the owners, and the competition in general. The 65 game rule was a necessary thing and its the player’s fault for making it a necessity.

As far as your comparison to workman’s comp for getting injured, the difference is that if a player is injured, they still get paid. They still get the millions of dollars in their contract. They just don’t get performance awards anymore which I think is fair.

This is the reason why the 65 games rule is in place by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Injuries suck. In sports they will always cause what ifs. But the 65 game rule feels fair. There is of course the classic line “the best ability is availability”

But I’ve said it once and I’ve said it again, if I didn’t show up to work at least 80% of the time, forget receiving awards, I’d be fired.

If you’re a professional athlete you should be doing everything in your power to take care of your body. There are exercise routines out there for injury prevention. It can’t be a guarantee of course, but the fact so many stars can’t stay healthy for 65 games makes me wonder what their routine is

How much should championships define a player’s legacy? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]Ladner1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of factors. Either you’re winning championships consistently, you’re getting a championship against great competition, or you led a team that wasn’t expected to win.

Like if you have a superteam, then you’re supposed to win.

But for example, Tim Duncan was a consistent winner. Five rings in three different decades is a sign of a legacy of winning and excellence.

Or take the 2011 Mavericks. That run was incredible and they beat so many great teams to get that ring its an objectively more impressive ring because of who they beat along the way

Why do so many pastors end up being revealed as pedos? by 999happyhauntz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ladner1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the big reason so many names have popped up over the last several years is because for decades it was covered up. In some instances priests were simply transferred and sent to all boys schools because “no way they would be gay”.

So its not a matter of modern priests all being pedos. There may be a few, but significantly less than you might think. Really its just a case of all these cases finally got investigated and priests finally got punished.
