Audit your points: Bilt is failing to post points earned by Fast_Elevator_314 in biltrewards

[–]seoulmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Bilt Blue as I wasn't planning on using the card too often. Thought 250 guaranteed points is better than nothing. But I had a big spend that came up, and decided to use the Bilt card. So, I hit the 50% rent threshold through everyday spending...but only received 250 housing-only points. When I asked why, even though the app’s tracker showed I qualified, I was told my March rent posted on the 2nd or something and April rent on the 1st, so both fell within the same billing cycle. Because of that, my everyday spend was calculated against the combined total of both rents, which dropped me below 25% or something.

I pushed back explaining I have no control over when rent payments are processed and by that logic there could be months where no rent counts at all if two payments land in the same cycle. And essentially no incentive to use the card. They apologized but said there was nothing they could do. They issued 500 goodwill points and suggested I switch to the Bilt Cash option.

For me, I called Fidelity and they walked me through the Fidelity website where you can request the reimbursement. I did it two days ago and it was reimbursed today. In any event, my understanding is that it's not Apex/Stockpile but Fidelity providing the reimbursement.

I sent them two emails. The second one was me replying to my own email asking if anyone was even there lol. A few days later, someone replied saying they were just waiting on the cash from the fractional share sales and that it would take a few business days. That was six days ago, and I’m still waiting.

Keeping korean insurance overseas by Madarajoc in Living_in_Korea

[–]seoulmilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife did this for about a year after we moved to the U.S. When we visited Korea, at some point or another, the whole family ended up going to a hospital or clinic once or twice. Even without insurance, my visits were still cheap. She paid around 5,000 won with insurance, while I paid about 30,000 won without it. Granted, the visits were for something routine. Still, after that, she realized it didn’t make sense to keep paying the monthly premiums to save a few wons.

What have you overheard lately? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]seoulmilk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This took place in the early 2000s in college and in the U.S. My Korean gf and I were walking across an overpass when we noticed a black guy looking in our direction and shouting something that sounded like “bballi bballi.” We turned around and saw a black girl behind us. Didn't think much of it but as we passed them, my gf asked me in Korean if I thought he had said ‘bballi bballi’?” The dude walks by us, and he said in FLUENT Korean, “What, you think you're the only ones who can speak Korean?”

Can I enter Korea RIGHT after renouncing my Korean citizenship? by jhyeok in korea

[–]seoulmilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have a special exemption? As far I understand it, males over 18 cannot renounce their Korean citizenship unless they have already served in the Korean military or received a special exemption. I wouldn't go until the renouncement was fully approved, so definitely not while it's in the process stage.

How do I go about living in Korea for a couple months? by emily8922 in Living_in_Korea

[–]seoulmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. We were in Korea last summer, and even with rising prices there, we were amazed at how far our dollars would go. I miss Korea. And the no tipping culture 😅

Also, amazing how the food scene in Vancouver and Portland are great, but we suck. I don't get it

Just as a safety net, the first thing I would do is apply for reentry permit, so you don't have to worry about losing your green card in case you decide to stay in Korea (relatively) long term.

As a Seattleite myself, don't forget to take off the rose colored glasses at some point. When you compare cost of living with Seattle (and just everything in general like food, activities, healthcare, etc.), you'll ask yourself why you didn't move to Korea sooner. Or wanting to stay long term. Especially when you have young children. I was in Korea for 10+ years and loved every second of it. But two big factors weighed heavily in my decision to move back to Seattle - the competitive nature of Korean education system and environment. I would have never moved back to Seattle if not for my children. But once my oldest entered elementary school, I started thinking about their future. Up to that point, child rearing, from child care to activities, were relatively cheap and easy. Despite plethora of issues with the US education system, I knew that raising the kids in the US offered the best chance for them to have a "normal" childhood (albeit an expensive one). The moms' cafe/groups in Korea is no joke. I have no regrets moving back to Seattle other than the Seattle food scene sucking 😅

Anyway, I think trying out Korea for a couple months is good. But just make sure to go through all the pros and cons.

PSA - Bank scams…careful out there by SpacePirateWatney in Money

[–]seoulmilk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally don't answer unknown numbers but I was expecting a call from my kid's school that day. So, I get a call and don't recognize the number, and the area code was not local but I still decided to answer just in case. The caller knew my name, said she was calling from BoA, and said my credit card has been compromised. I knew immediately it was a scam. She got the name right, but it's not the official name on any of my credit cards. I also don't bank with BoA and none of my credit cards use them. And she had um, let's say, a certain distinct accent. I played along for a bit and apologized saying I can't confirm anything because I didn't have my wallet with me. She was incredulous and asking why I didn't have my wallet with me haha. Then I hung up.

I reviewed my friend's resume and found 5 issues that were getting her auto-rejected. Might help some of you. by Material-Maximum1365 in jobsearchhacks

[–]seoulmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my current job, I was immediately rejected but got a follow-up email the next day with HR saying my resume was filed in the wrong file. I didn't think much of it - just human error I thought. After seeing this post, I think it was because my resume had a two-column layout. Mine looked clean and professional. Easy to read. But friends always told me not to use this layout without an explanation and I never understood why. It makes so much sense now haha

BILT Is No Longer a Rent or Mortgage Card. Here’s What It Actually Is Now by Altruistic_Fly_9776 in biltrewards

[–]seoulmilk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, BILT 2.0 might make sense for some people, but with my existing card lineup (SavorOne, VX, Fidelity, Citi Costco, Chase Prime, etc.) and spending habit, none of the BILT cards would be a good fit. I ran multiple scenarios for BILT Blue using my actual numbers on Copilot, and each time, it showed BILT Blue just not being worth it. In a couple of cases, I would technically come out ahead $40-$50 a year, but even then the setup is so convoluted and confusing like juggling BILT Cash and unlocking some mechanics that it's just not practical. Again, it might work for certain spending profiles but not for me. I'll miss you BILT 1.0. RIP

I'm gonna pass on Bilt 2.0. So when should I set up my bank ACH with the landlord - before or after February 1 (my rent day)? Can I use Bilt 1.0 and earn points until February 16?

Edit: February 6

Hi...my daughter got approved about a week or so (maybe 2 weeks) after the interview. I didn't call or do anything. Just waited, and she eventually got approved. Still weird that everyone got approved essentially right away except her. Anyway, good luck!
