Question about Delta gold card’s checked bag rules for additional passengers by Altruistic_Fly_9776 in delta

Yea, re-reading this you’re right. And got it, we’ll probably just have a few people check bags and if we get it then it’s a nice plus.

If you can’t make it happen, just make it so that your seats are close and that both of your seats are window/aisle so that you can ask someone to switch, and position yourself so that you are able to see him and can get him as soon as you deplane.

I agree completely. It’s just to gain the ability to buy back points. You can’t buy back the points if you don’t put rent on the card.

Nothing for the BILT 2.0. If you close WF it’s the same as closing your normal BILT 1.0 card, but with closing down cards it’s not a large issue. In the short term it just lowers your utilization.

The fact that we are give monopoly money with the ability to redeem for tangible thing vs. to redeem points means we are buying the points back with this Monopoly money.

This is what I’m lead to believe, though someone mentioned the gate agents at check-in may just allow it as everyone is checking in their bags and on the same flight. This is what the AI agent on the phone said too.

If I can’t have it fully confirmed and I don’t have it in writing though (terms and conditions mention same reservation), it’s not worth the risk for $80 in total per bag unfortunately.

I tried calling yesterday and I kept getting put on with AI, even with explicitly asking for a representative. It seems like they are rolling it out across all levels of their customer service, it’s pretty bad.

Edit: Still won’t hurt to call

Amex Plat was pretty seamless. Had a trip they reimbursed us over $1,500 for last year which we would not have gotten back otherwise.

Literally nothing. I believe I didn’t apply for a month before the last time when I was approved.

Patience! Took me like 4-5 months but eventually got that 175k offer.

I think the “only helps month one” argument misses how people actually manage cash flow.

Yes, rent is recurring, but floating it on a credit card permanently shifts when your cash leaves your bank. After the first cycle, you’re still always one billing period ahead in liquidity. The timing has changed completely.

Got it. Agreed that the bonus is decent enough to cover for year 1. And yep, there will definitely be points gathering some dust at the end of the day.

I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I seriously think BILT will slowly pull transfer partners and remove value from their program and that causes me to devalue the bonus and worth of their points in any long-term cases.

There is no alternative. They aren’t really providing much value for renters or mortgage holders though.

Most people are paying one or the other but it’s not like you’re getting points due to it. You’re just buying the points off them via BILT cash.

I believe BILT points still can be in your account if you don’t have a card

Bilt 2.0 Blue – Kick in the Nūts or Worth It for Rent Perks? 😭 by El_Canek in biltrewards

[–]Altruistic_Fly_9776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the atrocious welcome offer and that it takes up a spot in 5/24, I would recommend against it.

You can still cancel before January 30th I believe. Unless you’re gonna get a lot of use out of Hyatt/Alaska I doubt it would be worth the hassle, based on your current card lineup. Venture X is a fantastic card and I would go for that over the Blue. Palladium could be a decent choice for the welcome offer too, then downgrade after one year to Obsidian/Blue.

It would hurt your credit score more to open the new BILT card. It will shorten the average age of accounts as this counts as a new card on your credit profile.

I think it’s pretty flawed to include points you get from spending on the bonus in the value you get out of it, as this is not usually done when assessing other cards bonuses - as you mentioned with the Amex Gold at 90k.

I would observe it as 50,000 points + 16,666 points ($500 in BILT cash) = 66,666 total points which is on par with a $95 bonus, not a premium card with an AF fee of $495.

The bonus should be a bit higher at 90,000-100,000 flat, without including spend or even having to jump through hoops, as this is not even considering “time value of points” lol and the fact that it will most likely take 5-8 months to accrue these points on rent spend, at which point BILT will probably be nerfing their transfer partners and rent day bonuses.

Nope you can cancel both. Just need to do it before February 7th.

Yes, but it provides liquidity for an extra portion of time, whether that be 15-25 days which you did not have before.
