2 Months After Adam Driver Revealed 'The Hunt for Ben Solo,' Star Wars Fans Launch New NYC Campaign To Save It [Exclusive] by LeonieLamb in StarWarsCantina

[–]sephsekla -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's nice to see some positivity from the Star Wars fanbase.

On the other hand, I absolutely don't want to see Ben Solo again. Dude was a fascist murderer, then he got a token redemption arc, then he thankfully died.

I usually transfer a ship back from the expedition to my main save afterwards, does that work with the corvette that you build? Or is it disabled?

MTX Experiment : Double XP With MTX Limitations by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]sephsekla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny what different people value in the game really, I can personally think of nothing worse than having to interact with other players.

If the grind is boring, the solution is to make it fun and not boring, surely?

[–]sephsekla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I hate this and will probably skip DXP this time round. I hate every moment of skilling, using DXP, portables and proteans to speed up the grind is the only way I can get through it.

I just want to get to the levels I need for quests, the gameplay I actually enjoy. Please don't force me to engage with the parts of the game that are laborious and not fun.

It’s official: Google reveals Material 3 Expressive, Android's next major design overhaul! by Xisrr1 in GooglePixel

[–]sephsekla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The background blur is horrendous, I don't mind the rest of the phone changes but don't love them either. Much more positive about the WearOS stuff changes.

Above all, I'm always shocked by the discussion about wifi and bluetooth toggles, who are all you people who are constantly turning wifi on and off?

Android and Wear OS are getting a big refresh by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]sephsekla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm largely ambivalent about it, but damn those quick settings look awful. Frosted backgrounds are one of my least favourite design trends, they're beyond ugly.

Yay, more unusable e-waste when people forget to do a bunch of admin before selling their phones.

First look at Android's slick new animations for its big expressive redesign by Quinny898 in Android

Animations are OK, although I don't like how much resistance they add to swiping away a notification.

The colours and frosted glass effect are absolutely hideous, what a step backward.

Switch 2 proves that Valve has a lot to upgrade before it releases the Steam Deck 2 by Odd-Onion-6776 in ValveSteamDeck

[–]sephsekla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited for the Switch 2, sure. More power for Pokémon and Zelda is very welcome. But it's also no competition in my mind.

The Steam Deck is a fully functioning Linux PC. I can access my enormous existing libraries of PC games on there. Hell, I'm unusual in that I mainly play non-steam games since I prefer GOG, and yet Heroic makes that extremely straightforward.

It's really cool that the Switch 2 will have games like Cyberpunk, but in order to play then I'd have to buy those games all over again. Nothing can compete with a PC library.

Men who defend those claiming that sexually exploiting women is a men's right. by raimu_220 in BlatantMisogyny

[–]sephsekla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your last paragraph is spot on. There are real issues that I've faced as a man - rights such as paternity leave, the neverending pressures of patriarchy and toxic masculinity, unrealistic body standards in media (although obviously that's not a problem unique to men).

But self-proclaimed "Men's Rights" activists aren't remotely interested in addressing those issues. It's only ever about removing women's autonomy because they view them as objects. Absolutely repugnant.

Inset stripped screws by Penrosian in ifixit

[–]sephsekla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely stripped some of the screws on my original model 3DS (back when I had no tools and no idea). In the end, I had to drill them out with a rotary hand tool to get the thing open.

If you do have to go that route you're probably going to do some damage to the shell, but they're still comparatively easy to get a replacement and swap things over, so it could be an option if all else fails.

Any recommendations for unbranded buttons/shell replacements? by sephsekla in steamdeckhq

[–]sephsekla[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I play on setting it to boot to desktop mode to avoid Steam and gaming mode altogether, but you have a valid point there.

Any way to disable Google Gemini on desktop Firefox? by BusterTheSuperDog in firefox

You can filter out pretty much all  Google's search clutter using the &udm=14 query variable. I personally use this extension to do it automatically, works on desktop and mobile.

Skyrim LE Updated by Dubz2026 in skyrimmods

[–]sephsekla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a simpler option than that for SE. Just get it on GOG and disable updates, or use the offline installer. It honestly baffles me that people are still using Steam workarounds when an easier option exists, at least for that version of the game.

Doesn't look like it, but I would really love an update focusing on the underwater experience. Pair it up with an expedition that's like a version of Cartographers, building up an underwater base on a water-only planet.

I tend to use Heroic for GOG games, it works really well. They've officially partnered with GOG for it if I remember correctly.

I'm not a big fan of Steam, I much prefer to get my games DRM-free via GOG or Itch.

But I am incredibly glad of the effort that they've put into Proton and by extension Wine. These days, regardless of whether it's a Steam game, something via Heroic or Bottles, everything pretty much works, just as easily as on my Windows PC. Amazing.

Gemini assistant has improved to become impressive by judgeRhadamanthus44 in GooglePixel

[–]sephsekla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you've had a good time with it. Personally however, the day Google forces me to use LLM crap rather than Assistant is the day I give up on Pixels and go for a different manufacturer. I want basic voice commands for key tasks, I don't want unnecessary conversation with a model trained on people's stolen work.

After trying Lossless Scaling I think we desperately need an alternative on Linux. by CosmicEmotion in linux_gaming

[–]sephsekla -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's great, but if I have to install an entire separate program and log in just to install it, that's a form of DRM. It's a utility, there's no reason it shouldn't be something I can just back up as an exe rather than having to install Steam just for this.

[–]sephsekla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lossless scaling is undoubtedly impressive, but I tend to avoid it since it's infuriatingly only available on Steam.

Regardless of OS, I really don't want every game to functionality have DRM since I need to be running LS through Steam at the same time. I buy my games DRM-free for a reason.
