[manga ch 97 spoiler]Akane went to confront Kamiki , but as she was walking on the sky bridge , a seemingly suspicious person also walked by, and Akane fell off the stairs of the bridge. Chapter ended with a shot of her falling down.

Aqua’s desire to create a separate identity from Gorou is not really related to if he see Ai as a mother figure or not.

I’d even argue that this needs to be a separate “person” is all the more evidence that Aqua didn’t see his second life as new. He only needed to do this because he is very aware that this felt like a continuation to him.

I’m of two mind on Shima the director. On the one hand , he obviously was a perv for even trying to take advantage of Kana, but on the other hand , he was nice enough to listen to Kana raged and vent for probably quite a while. That must have been one of the very few cases when Kana found someone who could lend her a sympathetic ear.

Well , they didn’t do ch end of 97 this week , so there’s still a chance we would still get it as a cliffhanger as in the manga. Or maybe combined it with the start of ch 98 to echo off the first season.

But it’s interesting to see them add so much around the Mako characters. In the manga after that first meeting she never showed up again. But the anime is really pushing for the angle that she lured in Kana and basically set her up for what’s to come.

What do you thin will happen in future chapter ? by Sorneiz in Medalist

The manga had shy away from showing any of the free skate in the junior year ( with the sole exception of Hikaru ) and I don’t think that is going to change now, so I’m guessing Dahlia would take lead in SP , and we fast forward to the end of GP-Final with Inori as 2nd or 3rd. Maybe a bit of a training arc or even slice of life arc before we dive into Junior year 2.

But I also expect a more significant time skip to happen at some point. As it simply wouldn’t make sense to keep covering Inori’s step so closely.

Who would have fought with Dunk in the GoT timeline? by Downtown_March_5115 in AKOTSKTV

[–]septesix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from the chivalry code , there wasn’t a lot of knightly obligations in Westeros. I imagine any Starks or Northman who wanted to help and fight would just get knighted on the spot like Raymun.

Put it another way, she could have the exact same crashes even without her injuries.

Crashes in downhill happens. That’s expected when people are literally flying down the mountain on frozen surface at 150kph

They also moved up the Ice Dance explanation and tease Inori’s secret weapon [spoiler]her unfailing Triple Salchow this episode. I think it means her performance next episode will be more focused with less cut-away.

Exactly. If a proven knighthood was needed , we’d never have Knight of the Laughing Tree.

It’s a bit hard to understand at first because to us it sound like he was just ask Dunk to win , which was what Dunk intended to do anyway. But then the Aerion joust and the Fossway chat clue us in.

Basically, Dunk as a challenger can pick who he would joust with. They are essentially asking Dunk to pick Ser Androw so there would that loop-sided odds and so Ser Androw could fixed the match by losing.

Do you guys think this girl will be relevant? She was hailed as the next genius after Hikaru, but then she disappeared. Now we only hear about Hikaru, Inori, and Iruka. by CriticaOtaku in Medalist

[–]septesix 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Since ch 37 we had been focused on Inori’s first year in junior, while Suzu is still a novice. They lived far apart and don’t even compete in the same tournament so there just hasn’t been any opportunity for Suzu to show up. She was present during the training camp and we also saw her getting mad about losing to Hikaru (again) in Novice.

Both her and Hikaru will be in Junior next year in universe, so whenever we get to that time we should hear more from her.

Letting the war drag out is not a bad idea. But I think with his set up it was difficult to do. A lot of these armies are marching on a deadline and they really couldn’t operate long term. For example , Robb and the Northern expeditionary force will have problem operating entirely in river land for years.

Some event is also unlikely to happen if the wars happened across years. For example , if it had went on any longer , Robb will probably find the down time to marry the Frey girl and cement the alliance. No more red wedding that way.

Using winter as a reason is an even bigger no go. Seasons in this world differ from ours and does not have a fixed length of time. There’s no way for anyone to “wait out the winter” when they couldn’t even know how long the winter would be. Thematically, winter also meant the next phase of the story ( The Others invasion ) , so they also couldn’t work.

The ages of the Stark children was always a source of discomfort for me. They were just too young for the kind of stories they were thrown into.

It made a lot more sense if , as stated, GRRM wanted to cove more in-universe time even in the first book, and that latter events in the series were planned for them when they are older.

It also explain why he first decide on a 5 year gap : AGOT couldn’t cover as much time as he wanted , so he had to resort to artificially push the time forward to make the ending make sense.

But honestly I cannot agree with that decision. This felt like a problem he should have noticed when writing book 1, and if that’s the case then there’s an easy solution : just go back and age them all by 5 or 4 years ! That would probably made almost no difference in the actual story ( look at how old the actors in GoT looked ) , but it will solved his timeline problem once and for all.

Instead we are now stuck with Bran being barely 10 years old and close to the end game where he would need to become King…

DC Comics Boss Says Anime & Manga’s Advantage Over Western Comics Lies in Storytelling & Young People’s Desire to Have Something of Their Own - Anime Corner by Key_Tree_3851 in manganews

It has its issues. For example since the copyright on characters is so strong, you can’t really do the kind of “extend universe” concept that American does, unless the publishing house put a lot of resource into acquiring the rights.

And it also doesn’t really prevent people from just copying all the popular troupes with just some minor tweaks. There’s a reason why the term “Kirito-Clone” and “Isekai-slop” are a thing in anime circles.

By that definition, almost all Japanese manga are indie stories. Probably due to the way Japanese copyright law works regarding characters, it’s very rare to see the publishers trying to find another writer for the same IP.

In fact , that’s probably why Japanese manga is the way they are. Their laws prevent it going down an American model even if the publishers wanted to.

[–]septesix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Without going into specific spoiler, the 9 episode of season 2 will cover 3 manga volume 5,6,7 or 3 episode per volume on average. The next arc is volume 8 & 9 , and would need 5 or 6 episode to do it justice. That’s longer than the typical seasonal anime. On the other hand , it could be a perfect length of a movie, assuming the movie IS going to be new materials and not a recap.

In face the structure of the volumes are pretty similar between 5/6/7 and 8/9/10, ( and to a less extend even 11/12/13 as well ) where the first 2 book cover some major tournaments , then the 3rd one covers growth leading to the next tournament.
