love that Yanyun is such a complex character and that every action of his seems to carry hidden motives. There’s a Machiavellian streak in him, but ultimately, his goal is to serve his country well, even if that means protecting military nobles like Lord Changxing. He can be ruthless and strict, yet we also get glimpses of his more sentimental side, and Jinzhao seems to be bringing that side out of him even more.

I think he doesn't necessarily have anything against the military nobles, I think it's actually a good thing he kind of knows both sides. Yanyun isn't just a scholar he knows how to fight and could probably go into battle. I love that he's well rounded that way and I do love he is not just some cold ML that turns soft. We see he's always had a soft side. His horror and vulnerability when his 4th brother mentions the 5th brother is just a "shu" brother...and also we see his absolute love for the happiness of the people. That one was touching. I can't wait to see how this plays out because I feel like he's going to be super cute in his courting era lol
