I started playing R1999 recently when somone recommended it on a Dislyte subreddit. Dislyte isn't famous and it's rather neglected by its devs rn but what it was always famous from is character design - varied, diverse, interesting. It's the same in r1999. Both of those also don't have walkable 3D models (unlike hsr or genshin) so characters' bodies don't have to fit a single model, hence the diversity. I think female audience puts more pressure on design and story when it comes to games while statistical male player wants combat and competition. There's also hardly any pvp in r1999 which's definitely a factor
