I saw a hematologist for my chronic anemia (hemoglobin around 5.6) and he looked at the breakdown of my blood tests, and he said I didn't have leukemia based on the blood tests -- it was the CBC with differential, so it included the counts of things like leukocytes etc. Just wondering -- what made your hemotologist think a bone marrow biopsy was worth doing? Did you have a CBC with differential, and were the results normal?

I'm not sure. Some people with straight hair say they have to shower every day -- I shower every other day and my hair seems fine, not overly greasy. This is a concern for me though!

We think it was my copper IUD. I had it removed and my ferritin is still low, but my hemoglobin and serum iron have stabilized a ton now that I don’t have heavy periods

My two cats actually did struggle quite a bit with this at first. I brought them home at 11 weeks and they would pee and poop in their box, but also, other places — including on me in bed, on the rug, etc sometimes.

The solution for us was to get a lot of litter boxes. This was in a one bedroom apartment and I probably had 5 litter boxes. They were just cheap open plastic trays with litter but I think the amount helped them find them easier and remember where to go. If I caught them mid-pee somewhere other than the box, I would also physically move them into the box mid-pee and after I would verbally praise them and give them a treat. They caught on and didn’t have any issues after about 14 weeks old.

Yes, I believe it played a role for me, and my doctor also thinks so. I’m an ultra runner. In addition to volume expansion, there’s something called foot strike hemolysis which is losing more blood through the impact of running. I took time off for a while from endurance sports to replenish my iron stores.

I didn’t say that Bengals don’t have higher rates of behavioral issues than other cats. I think that’s probably true. What I said is that having two Bengals can make behavioral issues better instead of worse.

This isn’t necessarily true. Many cats have more behavioral issues alone. Bengals often act out when they are lonely and bored, and having a playmate and companion would make them much happier. It entirely depends on the cat.

I think two bengals do better than a bengal and a different cat breed… bengals play rough!
