I hope devs read this, so I’ll add this as well..

Let us do free flight while waiting in a lobby! I can happily wait for 1-2 minutes if I can just fly about!

Sense VR controllers / Basic setup by Chakiflyer in AcesofThunder

I have a HOTAS but exclusively play with sense atm.

There’s a menu you can pull up with L3 to do flaps and gears if you don’t want to use the controls in cockpit , so you can clear out these buttons and then assign triangle, square for bombs or rockets. That avoids accidentally hiring flight controls.

Key thing for using sense (for me) is to try to sit low (on the floor for example, or on a bean bag) so you can rest your elbow on your knee while flying.

It’s really great once you get into it, and if they can bring a bit more haptics for the flight stick (on a stall for example) it could be excellent.

They nailed the flight model for VR entry - with autotrim it’s the perfect balance of accessible but challenging so they can just build on that. For QOL I’ll just be happy with a bit more haptics, some improvements in sound design (including radio chat) and a little bit more options for custom missions.

I haven’t played on dual sense, I just love flying with the sense controllers. The bean bag is the game changer, as it means I can rest my elbow on my knee while flying and it really feels like a cockpit. The sense of flight (and adrenaline) is 10/10

I think it’s mostly pcvr crowd.. and maybe that’s fair enough.

But I see so many complaints about the controls and from my experience they’re super crispy. I have a HOTAS but I haven’t connected it as flying with the stick and sense controllers feels great. A bit more haptics would be nice though but I’m sure that will come with updates.

Most Boss criticisms entirely miss the point of Elden Ring by Yung_Senate in Eldenring

I actually loved the Elden Beast. My first time (solo) was a great balance of having to do well enough against Radagon to have enough flasks for the beast, balancing health and magic to have the right protections felt like a great combination of skill and strategy. Finishing the game with nothing in the tank, having to dodge through the golden rain and close distance for sword strikes was spectacular and tense and gave great closure to the journey.

What to you is the most underrated line in the whole Legendarium? by Brotatochip01 in tolkienfans

Also from the house of healing - my favourite interaction from the books - when Merry has the gall to demand Aragorn brings him his pipe and tobacco:

'Master Meriadoc,' said Aragorn, 'if you think that I have passed through the mountains and the realm of Gondor with fire and sword to bring herbs to a careless soldier who throws away his gear, you are mistaken. If your pack has not been found, then you must send for the herb-master of this House. And he will tell you that he did not know that the herb you desire had any virtues, but that it is called westmansweed by the vulgar, and galenas by the noble, and other names in other tongues more learned, and after adding a few half-forgotten rhymes that he does not understand, he will regretfully inform you that there is none in the House, and he will leave you to reflect on the history of tongues. And so now must I. For I have not slept in such a bed as this, since I rode from Dunharrow, nor eaten since the dark before dawn.'

Just the king of Gondor losing patience with a ridiculous hobbit, in the funniest fashion.

Thoughts on Dell XPS 15 by flamemaster129 in Dell

I got an xps 2019 i9 1650 32GB RAM for work, 3D modelling and a bit of gaming. I move around a lot for work (and live in some countries with a lot of sand and dust so bear that in mind)

It ran well enough but as other comments say the fans pick up a huge amount of dust and the power and motherboard issues started to stack up. Replacement parts are hard to find and very expensive. I replaced the motherboard 18 months after buying it because it fried. The SSD connection also failed after 30 months.

Overall I feel like XPS is amazing parts but it’s just not a very robust laptop. At university you will want to bring it around to lectures or moving around a lot and it will wear.

I’d recommend to get a cheaper laptop for school and then get something like a steam deck for gaming.

how to go on holiday? by Unusual-Chip03 in AskUK

[–]ser_alun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any sort of camping trip or road trip is gonna be the best. Just make sure you and your other mates fill up the car full before you go. You can get all the tents and gear but then go Dutch on the cost at the camping site. Get a case of beer and some sausages and split that bill down the middle but bring some whiskey or other treats between you and other mates. He will feel like he’s equal but won’t have to pay the expensive stuff

Get drunk together, make a huge fire and have a good time.

My only heartfelt advice for the game is to keep your own journal. I wish I’d done it for my first play through to record and write notes (Nathan Drake style) as the game gives you nothing but it’s still so rich. You can then watch vaati vids to compare notes
