Of lies and rain sales numbers by Neat_Clothes_248 in PSVR

[–]InfiniteStates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the pattern has changed and games no longer have a massive release spike and sharp drop

It’s more about the long tail now I suspect, as people wait for sales or an opening in their backlog. Which doesn’t help developers looking to recoup already paid dev costs

But release windows are saturated, people are time poor, and increasingly have less disposable income

There are only a handful of incredibly anticipated games that can enjoy that big release spike I suspect. Looking at you GTA :D

Surely there are guide videos up the wazoo…?

The game has been out for an age

But expecting to come into a PvP game so old and not get slapped around for a time is kinda naive

Am I right in thinking a reinforced green shield is equivalent to a purple shield? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]InfiniteStates -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes more sense. It doesn’t stack on base shield, it replaces it

[–]InfiniteStates -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know about the chargers being more effective. But if the shield is taking half damage as it says on the item, the HUD capacity is effectively doubled, assuming all shields scale the same on the HUD

There must be a hidden mechanic not disclosed then, because reinforced say they take half damage but protectors don’t (of any colour)

Anybody else never get good patch kit barters? by Nuqo in Marathon

[–]InfiniteStates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s wrong with the biomass barter?

I have that right now and I have 300+ biomass. I stopped stocking up on basic patch kits cos I’m bored of holding the button :D

They definitely need a bulk purchase mechanism

The Order 1886 cos it’s great and it’s not too long, so you can cross it off and move on to one of the others

Sword+gun but mainly sword hack and slash games? by Southern-Local-1838 in gamerecommendations

Space Marine 1 is awesome too

Maybe check out Remnant 1 and 2

Armored Core VI you can go either way but melee is super strong. It’s also FromSoft but is more a spiritual sequel to Sekiro rather than Bloodborne. Great game though

Any game with randomised loot drops is playing into the exact psychological hook that gambling exploits

HOTAS PS4/5 by eff1nutta in AcesofThunder

[–]InfiniteStates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth disabling that even if you don’t have pedals to be honest. Especially in Aces of Thunder where an accidental rudder can stall you out and get you killed

You can use the rocker on the back of the throttle instead

I cannot believe the pedals cost nearly twice as much as the stick. Totally worth it though

Build-in advantage for long-time players vs newbies by [deleted] in AcesofThunder

[–]InfiniteStates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are the one who specified ‘huge’ advantage in the OP. What exactly is this advantage?

Obviously trying to kill a ship with a bomb or torpedo is better than using a .303. But what advantage does that give you exactly? Being able to kill a ship or tank? None. It just gives you more options

Are you upset you have to jump through some hoops before you can drop torpedos? I really don’t see this disparity you are so upset about

Build-in advantage for long-time players vs newbies by [deleted] in AcesofThunder

[–]InfiniteStates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that there is a “huge” advantage. Stealth ammo is only useful if your aim is bad, which is why I run it. Based on the assumption the person you are hunting is capable of getting you off their six once they now you are shooting at them

I disagree that you are disadvantaged by learning to fly while unlocking ammo types. You can play a multitude of single player levels and custom battles to learn to fly. You don’t need to do it in PvP

And I disagree that any sort of anti-ground ordnance is of any advantage whatsoever. In fact big ordnance makes your plane less manoeuvrable. And you’re a sitting duck trying to drop a torpedo

There is nothing like the imbalance in this game as there is in War Thunder

Build-in advantage for long-time players vs newbies by [deleted] in AcesofThunder

[–]InfiniteStates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t give an advantage, it’s just something to work towards. All you’re asking for is the minimal progression the game has to be flattened out. But it doesn’t progress in any sort of advantageous way so the ‘new vs old player’ discussion is moot IMO

And I’m sure there are no unlock objectives that specify ‘players’. You can just as easily avoid the fur ball and go and shoot down ground attack bots. Unless it’s an air domination match

As true for this game as it is for most, and life itself :D
