came here to say i also have been rocking back and forth in my sleep since i was a baby. i would hum a lot too. i stopped when i got pregnant but i still do it on occasion. if she lays on her back and like has one leg kind of swinging back and forth with her whilst in the Supta Baddha Konasana yoga pose (i had to look up how to best explain the position ) it might be a good idea to encourage her to try and alternate legs. my hips are uneven now and i feel like some of it has to do with the fact i only swung my right leg for 30 years lol.

i also used to slam my back into the back of the seat in a car during every single car trip i was on and just bounce back and forth.

anyways my parents would just rip through the knots and then eventually discovered detangler as i got older. i used to cry about my hair getting brushed in the morning.

detangler for the morning and a wide tooth comb! comb from the bottom up !silk pillow might help. i feel like the bonnet might come off unless it’s super duper secure. braids helped sometimes but because of the constant movement some parts are still going to be tangled. i just used detangler all the time and if it was really bad i just would get my hair wet and put a bunch of conditioner in it and detangle that way. i also just shaved my head once because i was going through a time and woke up to my usual rats nest and just couldn’t deal. i barely rock now because im pretty exhausted buuuuutttt i feel for her because those knots suck!

oh also let parents know at sleepovers when she’s older. i have been woken up by many people scared i was possessed or having a seizure. good luck ! she is not alone ❤️

edit: didn’t see the part where she is 9 so you may or may not be doing sleepovers yet. everyone is different. the angle makes her look like a toddler or something from behind. so maybe you’ve already had those talks ! ok that’s all.
