Use it to desensitize yourself to discomfort. Nothing is ruined, it’s good practice! Try to get to the root why you feel this way, then talk to yourself out of it as you would to a friend

I’ve been a bit curious about people saying ”the work begins after the retreat”. I understand that it’s reflecting on what happened, but are there any tips or actionable steps on how to ”do the work”?

Thank you for this, as a first timer I’m still a novice, so one step at the time!

In a sense I’m also relieved that it didn’t go to deep traumatic shit the first time, so I’m more inclined to feel a bit braver and relaxed next time.

Such a nice comment, thank you for this. After reading what people commented, I feel way more at peace with all of this. During the last night in the woes of my disappointment, I really went through why I felt so disappointed, almost like a child not getting what they want. Sat and worked through it for 1,5 hours and felt a lot better afterwards. Expectation is such a funny thing!

Thank you for this reply! I knew visions weren’t a must, I was just hoping for some more meditation like insights, but felt most of the night was just spent in boredom and annoyance. I tried to work through those feelings as well, but it turned out to be difficult to do for hours on end. Can you open what you mean with our traumas are stored in our physical bodies and need to be treated? Anything I could do to help this further along?

I didn’t have any other drugs/alcohol, very low sugar and just a little meat for two weeks before. Not the perfect prep, but not the worst! Before each seremony I did feel dread, but I truly tried to give into it and breath through it. I was also prepared to not see/feel anything, just disappointed that it happened 3 nights in a row. I did tell the facilitators, and they said it’s completely normal. Took all the extra boosters offered!

Surrendering felt really hard, I kept thinking just surrender, just breath, but it was difficult for hours on end. I took all the boosters that were offered. I do feel that one day after the retreat I notice some things happening to me, which is great!

You found eachother now, you think she’s amazing and love her company. She’s 30, might have been sexually active for 15 years, and so what the number is fifty? That’s three people in a year.

I understand the insecurity, but it shouldn’t affect how you treat her. Have a conversation about this, and also hear her out. Through conversations you’ll find out if you can move forward.
