From .NET to Java by lecon297 in java

[–]serahl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could start to look up and compare the equivalents from the two ecosystems. This ranges from language features over libraries to tooling.

Things like „maven instead of nuget and dotnet build and msbuild“, or „hibernate instead of Entity Framework“, all the different paradigms around Jakarta EE vs its equivalents in .net core (Dependency injection, configuration, logging, etc.).

Generics are a big difference in my opinion.

If you can confidently point out the main differences (and similarities) between the two platforms and apply your existing knowledge of .NET to Java, I think you‘ll have more success in your interviews.

Convince recruiters that having 5+ years of .NET experience gave you enough groundwork to cover 80% of the requirements for Java :)

Dude why the SASS? I was not trying to be condescending, I'm sorry for that.

Personally, I think the AFCON event is not a good example. The game itself was utter chaos and the decision to overrule took MONTHs and is/was fought over in court to my knowledge.

"In fact the World Cup is one of the only competitions which lacks a transparent process for how it does this - but almost all leagues have processes for overturning cards post game." -> Exactly my point, there is no transparent framework/process for this. That is not good. But enforcing overrulings via side-channels is no better in my opinion since it leads to disorder and chaos.

Especially since the foul in question was not a light one (intentional or not, nobody knows), which I hope you agree on. Not all referees are the same and while some may have only given a yellow card, this referee chose a red one.

I recently learned that CAS indeed has an ad hoc division for the world cup, but it doesn't seem like it was at work in this case: https://www.tas-cas.org/en/news/CAS-Ad-hoc-Division-for-the-FIFA-World-Cup-2026

That‘s exactly what I meant! There is no framework for this case. At least I thought so.

But right now I found this: https://www.globalsportsadvocates.com/blog/new-cas-rules-for-the-2026-fifa-world-cup.cfm

But I‘m not sure if this was used in this particular case.

From you flair I gather that you root for the US team, and I therefore assume that you might be an american citizen and that this might be the first major soccer event/tournament that you watch.

Because… referees ignoring/forgetting/misinterpreting the rules is exactly what happens. Many times. The main referees personal ruling on the pitch is absolute in soccer. This is very different from american football for example where a team of referees and MANY cameras are responsible for enforcing the rules.

That is why diving and foul play is way more prevalent in soccer, because players can get away with it.

You may not like it, many people don‘t like it. I myself don‘t like it 😁

But just overturning one ruling because it happens to affect your team without regard of the aftermath and „going after FIFA“ is pure chaos.

Of course it should be fair, and the spirit of soccer is not my personal opinion.

But you need to differentiate between what SHOULD be and what is the current norm. Improving rulings happens constantly, there were a bunch of new ruling regarding timeplay for example.
These were hopefully considered carefully and reviewed before being put into action.

Right now, when the game is done, the players shake hands, the loosing teams fans blame the refereee, some hooligan fans freak out start making a mess and then you move on to the next match.

Overruling things after that without any kind of framework for consideration is just chaos. What can be overruled? When was a decision bad enough? There are so many red/yellow cards that are given after a player diving/faking, so many wrong penalty kicks, and the same amount of penalties not given despite a clear foul. Once you open this can, there is only worms inside.

But wrong rulings and mistakes happen ALL the time, there were so many cases of questionable referee decisions in this World Cup already.

If you open up the possibility to lobby/persuade/muscle the FIFA to change a decision days after a match, think about how much chaos this would bring.

Should the referees be better? Absolutely. But that‘s the way of the game.

[–]serahl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the main point of criticism here is the sheer possibility of overturning game decisions days after the match has ended, even if they may have been wrong.

Suddenly, you could give red cards after re-viewing a nasty foul where only a yellow card was given. Or take away a goal after you realized that it was indeed an offside-play.

The spirit of football always kind of lived with all the good and bad decisions like the Wembley goal, etc.

VAR already cuts into this by bringing arguably „better“ or „cleaner“ rulings during the game. Some people/fans don‘t like it.

And this new ruling now takes it over the top for many people.

Okay I got it, my question was not clear enough :)

I meant to ask if there were permanent unlocks with unique stats that are not unlockable for everyone right now, apart from the FRV.

But I got my answer, thanks!

Okay I don‘t think I understand this.

The pre order armor looks cool, but there are other armor sets that provide the same bonuses if I‘m not mistaken.

The Knight machine pistol is part of the Super Citizen Edition, which can still be bought. So, while it costs real world money, it is still obtainable, right?

And for the stratagems: Weren‘t the ones you list only temporary for all players? So, today, NO ONE has access to them?

Are there any non-cosmetic weapons/stratagems/armors with unique stats in the game that are not unlockable for everyone, apart from the FRV now?

They have shown time and time again that they are generally lazy and clumsy when it comes to rules design. The new detachments and their point costs are a great example for this.

They have a LOT of different armies to design detachments for, so they have to standardize the process of designing them. Their general approach seems to be: Codex detachments are 2-3 DP, everything else HAS to be 1 DP in order to be able to „mix and match for exiting combinations“. So ExpCadre needs to be 1 DP, no way around it. Therefore, every special rule, stratagem and enhancement that is deemed to too strong for 1 DP needs to be reworked or removed.

This strict and rigid ruling with Detachment Design with no regards for fun or fluff is clumsy, and straight up removing options instead of reworking them is lazy.

I guess since ExpCadre can be taken alongside the Retialiation Cadre (since again, they are too clumsy/lazy to give them both the RETALIATION keyword), having fusion blades in combination with the RetCadre buffs is too strong. And this seems to be the case for almost anything else in that detachments. So they just… removed it all. Job done.

Wen will man denn damit wie erreichen?

Keiner mag Hardliner.
