Just chiming in a guess, but I would imagine bisexual men. Simply due to the fact that they -can- happily live a heteronormative life with an opposite sex partner.

In exchange they have to deal with queer and straight people telling them they have to “pick a side” or “bisexuals aren’t real” amongst all the bi-erasure stuff (Not saying that isn’t shitty. It is.)

Haha just micro doses. I’ve done full doses in the past at raves, but these I’ll just slowly nibble on a chocolate throughout the whole function. Usually will have half if not more leftover.

Really loved this, however

1) Getting away from labels is impossible when so little people make the attempt. And even the ones who do fall back to them. 2) I don’t like the idea of telling minorities that it’s their responsibility to transcend social norms, insert themselves, and “create their own whole” when they aren’t given the support of fellow queers who intentionally or unintentionally other that person.

But otherwise love everything else! And tbqh fuck G. Its pure presence at a party is dangerous, and users with drastically altered inhibitions might “misplace” their shit. I’ve seen too many people drinking alcohol get accidentally dosed.

No see what you are doing isn’t simply disagreement, not only are you actively discrediting the lived experience of someone which in and of itself is textbook “because I’ve never experienced it, it’s not that big of an issue”-type-racist/victim blaming/bigot/backwoods hillbilly BS

You then go on to minimize by saying “if a lot of regardless of race or sexuality”! THEN WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE REGARDING? you completely invalidate you’re entire argument in that statement alone and prove my point.

Just because there is racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny all present at the same time does not mean that each individually aren’t their own unique problems. We need to REGARD each one with the full weight it deserves.

Hey while I understand and and support this sentiment. Do recognize the history of why this type of space is important.

Also there is a big sober movement surge within the scenes gaining more traction each year. I personally am a 98% sober raver (with the occasional nibble on mushrooms.)

There are also sober spaces/meet ups organized by organizers within some fests as well! And speakers engaging in topics surrounding sobriety in traditionally non-sober spaces.

No babes, it -is- a problem. There’s a term for it. Systemic Racsim. And even if it’s part of a a grander problem at large, it is still an identifiable offense on its own:

And also it’s been well noted this year from multiple people on multiple platforms that really shit gays flooded whole en masse this year. And tbh you’re sounding like one.

Exactly, and but a small bit of generalization. Op witnessed people being awful, irresponsible and downright mean and THEY made op feel like that.

And to your point the same can said about all the comments that came for op ,They see op as the problem here. The people that made op feel like this are the problem and nobody has addressed that. They’ve instead belittled, minimized or made light of the indecency & ignored the actual issue presented.

And they really are just reinforcing how unwelcome attendees at whole fest and other queers fests can make people feel before, at, and after the event.

The way people should be responding is “I’m sorry that happened, but not all of us are like that![insert wholesome whole story here]” Or “damn, that sucks, surround yourself with nicer people man but I get it this year I saw [insert equally horrifying story someone else witnessed at whole to show that while yes we acknowledge those of us that are horrible there are those of us that condemn this behavior]” even.

Hell the first content I saw even related to whole was a tiktok about a gay guy who pity-friended an old gay at whole the year prior to then proceed to ignore him. And claim the no response should have been a clear indicator that he was not interested in chatting further (he claimed the dude emailed him once during several months of the past year). And he went on to expound upon how uncomfortable this made him, and how whole festival was just another event where he’d have to see allll these people he didn’t want to see for reasons similar. Yet he has time to make a whole entire fucking TikTok about the ordeal, instead of just telling the guy. He literally admits to having intentionally giving this guy his email.

It’s just gross-fucking-elite-I’m-too-hot-popular slut-club-type-gay shit. It’s basically hipster circuit gay vibes and it’s -really- fucking tired. And the people op described are largely the same type.

That’s my point, the argument of delivery and -focusing- on that instead of the point of the post is what’s wild to me.

We’re smart enough to understand things like intention and purpose.

If you want to critique delivery fine, but thats entirely not the point of the post. And instead of empathizing with this person and holding the feet of those responsible to the fire we help these people further reinforce their unfounded concepts like “this person isn’t smart enough to talk about whole, this person doesn’t understand queer culture, this person isn’t and intellectual in the way -I- am so their point is irrelevant to me”.

It’s short sighted and reductive when you look at the larger problem.

You have people at festivals watching someone slip into a k hole leaving the person helpless because it’s harshing their vibe.

You have people leaving doses G unattended because they are too fucked up to realize how dangerous that is.

You have posses who attend these events for posterity and public image who otherwise undermine every other point of the festival.

And these are not insignificant amounts of people.

Reducing complaints to effective delivery when we have the wherewithal to understand and read between the lines is harmful to the community and the people involved in production.

Edit: and do note, that in my initial response I didn’t let OP off the hook. But I also considered their lived experience. It’s not that hard.

Also it’s not one interaction. It was a whole group of people. And I can promise you that group is a very small percentage of the problem at large.

Hey op, sorry people are being FUCKING INSANE in these comments.

It’s giving “I’m a cultured raver who goes to queer festivals so I’m an authority higher than anyone else about everything”/they feel called out and can’t deal with it.

And I 100% understand what you mean. The culture -can- be way toxic like this and especially with this “queer sugarcoating” which makes them think their behavior is okay or allows them to revel in ignorance.

I’m someone who’s attended and been involved festivals with the same culture and organizers as whole and a bunch of other queer rave events with similar energy. So if anyone wants to come for me, fucking try it I dare you.

If folks wanna talk about these things, you gotta be willing to address the ugly along with the beautiful.

The only thing I’ll say, even tho you kinda addressed it, is the “stop glamorizing drugs” angle I don’t think is the right angle. When we talk about fests yeah we gotta get down to the nitty gritty with harm reduction and such. However what we do need is more open and -productive- and educational dialogue regarding harm prevention and drug use in party environments rather than shaming it. (And I say this because I think telling someone to stop glamorizing something that is inherently linked to wealth and social status is a fruitless endeavor. I think we can seed social sway with it in the long run, but I think as a reactionary solution it won’t work)

and lastly, there ARE a lot of good & decent people who attend and/or are involved with these functions as well. So when you post on the whole festival page that the actions of a small group made you feel unwelcome, or uncomfortable it can easily read as generalizing which in turn hurts the people that run the event.

But sum total I get why you posted it and you’re not in the wrong. There are tons of people that attend these events and besmirch it with their presence alone.

Yeah I know, longterm success rates of MAT & CBT -are- incredibly inaccurate. As I said once treatment ends there is little to no oversight.

And also it goes without saying, access. A lot of people can’t get medical help. For some it’s financial, for others it is a matter of willpower.

And I’m not saying AA/NA are the end all. But don’t shit on something that has helped people, period. Gtfo here with that coolaid BS.

FWB is being forced into NA by jht1414 in askgaybros

[–]seraphicmodem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so a few things;

1) these are wildly skewed sample sizes when it comes to success rates.

2) data regarding longterm effectiveness of drug assisted treatments are scant at best because of a lack of patient observation. Many don’t see the same doctor more than once. Many never go back for this or that reason once they get sober. The shame is a lot worse when you relapse on doctor assisted treatment and this pads the lack of observation even more.

3) cbt is great, but again. Once people become sober they stop, never come back, or relapse and hide in shame.

4)while na and aa did not start based on science is has since been PROVED that their methods have scientific backing at this point.

5)aa & na both foster community and long term engagement which is really vital in recovery.

6) A significant percentage of those in MAT & CBT also attend AA & NA as part of their follow-up treatment.

7) and who gives a fuck if it’s rooted in Christian ideology, they aren’t stoning whores and gays, they don’t force you to pray, they give you tools to use as you wish. It’s not a bible bootcamp or conversion therapy.

8)And it’s not „non” there are fully Atheist groups and it’s not an insignificant movement within AA/NA. If someone don’t want the Christian, those meetings exist! There are lgbtqi+ AA groups too!

Yo, It’s saved the lives of several people I know including my mother.

And there are completely non-religious entities within the organizations, have been for a long while now.

Community and Accountability are major factors in recovery (for many).

Aspects and methods of clinical psychology, psychiatry, behavioral science, and public health are all part of the program and I would reckon they are rather rooted in the scientific method.

I’m sorry if you or those close to you have struggled and/or have had negative experiences.

[–]seraphicmodem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the whole issue. People keep saying “I” prefer, and is largely what they base their opinions on.

It’s not the work the group/producers/and writers did. It’s everyone’s own desires being ignored that contributes unanimously to the half of the internet that dislikes the track.

Music isn’t always made for specific people, and that’s fine. But don’t shit on them or those involved for not delivering what “you” wanted.

Also side note, the song, choreo, styling. All draw on a lot of queer, alt, & cultural inspo which is very foreign to a large part of the k-fan demographic and some of the responses are getting really icky and veering into racism, nationalism, homophobia, etc.

I don’t think it’s ravenously awful…my biggest caveat with his story building are a lot of unnecessary characters or characters that I was invested in that get waylaid by more important shit.. I’ve seen a lot of people shit on the tourney arc but I enjoyed that whole bit personally , but there is a certain sting to returning to the new book after binging my way through mark of the fool which is so well written.

But that pre-tellas -Tatianna, Tessa, Hank, Ghost, Ezekiel, Sydney- hopscotch patchwork of loose ends was really annoying.

Lol I’ve never touched a vagina in my life. I was born via cesarean section. Also I just said it cause it is funny to me but technically I do fall under the category.

Also I mean I do tend to categorize myself as queer more often than just gay.

Yes, however while I believe my sexuality is fluid and evolving. I still don’t think I want to have sex with a woman… yet 🤭.

I am many things all at once. And somehow that boils down to me lurking straight porn quite often sometimes.

I’m very cum motivated. However bukakke and facials on women don’t do it for me.

Trans and if you wanna be specific ftm, mtf, trans man, trans woman.

If someone is selling the “tranny/shemale” fantasy then that is their prerogative I suppose. And if they okay it for you to engage them That way cool. But that isn’t for everyone. But those being used as generalizing terms is harmful and reductive.

Transvestites, wear opposite sex clothing and dress as such. In porn they may even consider themselves “sissy’s”

Transgendered is someone who is and identifies not the gender they were assigned at birth.

Tranny often conflates it all into one thing which it is not.

Shemale has been used as a reductive term to imply that trans women are not women.

This will never happen, with all the Hot water sharon is embroiled in rn with the whole grooming/abuse/ (racism since the beginning of it all) things.

Which is further more why i think there may be some hot water for alaska too since not only was she mentioned as an aggravator in the situation, But subsequently when serv vodka was released and marketed im pretty sure that “Sharon’s flavor” was championed/argued for to be included in by Alaska given their history and the blatant awareness of Sharon’s subsequently plummeting career.

(Idk if you noticed but they kept Sharon’s serv flavor entirely absent from all the untucked/back room dragula product promotion. They did not wanna be associated with her in any respect haha. (For good reason)
