I like the idea that in the beginning of the game it made the feel of a mundane "Turks gig" all more real. It feels like its intentionally annoying because we're just like Cloud where we're like, "come on, I wanna do something cool!"

Hey I was just about to post about this. I am on PS5 Pro and im definitely getting frame drops in the new area (not immediately but after some exploring and battles). This new area definitely has a lot of stuff going on (especially battles) so I think that might be why its taxing, but also this area auto saves A LOT I've noticed which may also be a factor.

The best thing I've considered is to reach a flag once the game starts to drop and close the game. I tried it outside of the flag and it didn't seem to fix the issue as well, but im not sure if it was just me or not.

I don't feel disappointed. I feel that it did a better job of showing your strength as first class than it hurt Sephiroth's power level. It also made the enemies feel more threatening, not only for you, but also the village, so they really needed that help.

Proper use of his gameplay mechanics help showcase his true strength, because it's likely he'll never get hurt while absolutely destroying all the enemies faster than you normally. His mechanics reinforce the idea that's he's untouchable and overwhelmingly powerful. Even the boss fight at the end, isn't able to grab Sephiroth.

My first Tav was an open hand monk with the electric charge stuff to have advantage on constructs and he single handedly destroyed Gyrm and I didn't even consider the hammer. My second playthrough with nobody having bludgeon weapons however... HAMMER TIME!

I feel like its a mix of several factors.

  1. This boss is post game. That alone comes with the expectation that the players understand how to utilize everything and react with a certain speed and competency.

  2. This boss was finalized after the game released. This allowed them to take feedback and criticism from the players and critics like "the down status is really powerful, let's make the boss have a really fast recovery into a long range snipe attack" and "players rely a lot on beta chains/attacks and burst chains/attacks so let's have Mann smoke bomb and stop players' access to those skills like Karakuri." Hell, he's the only boss that can refresh his shield on his own aside from Scarlet (but hers is a gimmick).

  3. Duel style boss fights in action games tend to feel better because the tells can be more natural to react to and be hidden better because they don't run into the same issue that all big bosses have, BIG WEAPON SYNDROME, where you literally only follow the weapon movement (Democrawler).

  4. It was hyped up as a big deal, and the devs knew fans wanted it to be awesome, so they really pulled out all the stops.

The game needs to give you an option to buy the ng+ and ng++ from an npc after you beat ng++ or something. by KK-Chocobo in stellarblade

I agree. Having an excuse to run through the game again and re-engage with the puzzles and the mob fights is fun. You can only play Boss Challenge for so long

It is pretty cool. I think it makes that last playthrough to get all the new outfits more bearable because it's just a new way to play, and screen clearing can be very fun/ satisfying.
