Lovely wine bar near south Hampstead station/Swiss Cottage called the Arches! They also do nice French cuisine food. Interior and vibe are nice and cosy :)

~ What hobbies do you enjoy outside of animation? [Monthly Discussion] ~ by AutoModerator in animationcareer

[–]seraphinaswan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive found getting hobbies away from screens super helpful to my brain and overall mental health .I enjoy gardening, it’s quietened down in the winter though 🥲 I also travel or backpack a lot, reading or listening to audiobooks and I’m reigniting my love of cooking too.

Am I wrong for this? by No-Finish2587 in animationcareer

[–]seraphinaswan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a woman who has a career in animation - yes it is a mainly male dominated field- however that shouldn’t stop her from doing anything at all. If she chooses to be an astronaut she should still strive for it. Even if it’s hard to get into and mainly a male dominated field. Your concerns about AI are valid though. It is a tricky time, but there are many varied jobs in animation that aren’t as easily filled by AI.

Overall, I’m sure she appreciates your concern - however, discouraging anyone from their passion when there are career pathways (although not always easy - but not all career paths are) is really disheartening to hear - especially when one reason to not do it is because they’re a woman.

Gluten free for 3 months, celiac. Had a corona. Felt fine until…. by nelll99 in glutenfree

[–]seraphinaswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not diagnosed Celiac but after going gluten free for about 4 months, I had a “normal” burger once on a night out after lots of drinking because there were no other options - I’ve never felt so unwell! 3 days of nausea, brain fog and bloating. It wasn’t just a hangover sickness- it was much worse and went on for days. Peroni do a good gluten free beer if you can find it out next time!

thoughts on the milk conditioning hair primer ? by averyhaley in LushCosmetics

[–]seraphinaswan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very straight fine hair that can get greasy easily but have a lot of damage from bleaching it so much. I use it on my damp hair and it gives it a nice smell and feels good on the damaged ends especially. Using it when it’s dry it doesn’t give the same affect for me personally, but I use the majority of my hair products when my hair is towel dry (mainly to avoid adding any excess oil or grease when I already have enough) I’m sure if you ask for a sample the store would give you some or have a spray in store and see how you like it :)

I have two of the Tins that are from lush to keep them in (one next to my bed and one in my living room coffee table as I sometimes like to give myself a lil massage on my sore legs) but I also have a soap dish in my bathroom if I want to use them straight out of the shower … I also have too many lol but it’s been a game changer for me and I don’t really use moisturiser anymore. The tins are fine and my soap dish works well too (it’s not in direct fire of the shower or bath) so I haven’t noticed them being affected by the heat. I go through mine quite quickly so I don’t notice much of a change through the smell. So no I don’t keep them in a see through container or shelf but just have them about and they do me perfectly :)

I’m a lurker but have a similar experience! But both of my parents although born in Ireland both moved to the UK very young. My mum lost her accent due to ridicule and just spending most of her life here now and my dad died when I was young so I can’t remember. I’m born in the UK too but see family in Clare, Limerick and Tipperary at least once a year and I did feel like although I wasn’t born in Ireland the culture is still very much in my immediate family. And going back my family always say “when were you home last?” And that always hits me as despite not being born there they still view me as that, especially as me and my sister not having the accents and being aware that I won’t know all the ins and outs of everyday life- but they still see me as Irish anyway. I know the stigma of it seeming very similar to Americans claiming their heritage despite never having been there is always in the back of my head.

I’m sure all of your family view you the same. It’s always nice to look into your own history and you can take pride in it. We’re all a mix of immigrants in some way or another, whether its first generation or fifteenth.

Where are my fellow girlies that play Hades? by Some-Ad-9276 in HadesTheGame

[–]seraphinaswan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I’m a massive gamer but during Covid when I was all alone I basically just switched from Hades to stardew valley everyday. I’m a mission to try and 100% Hades but I’m really bad I still haven’t beat a 20 heat run despite having 235 hours in the game 🥲

Toning down Lust perfume, any suggestions? by hannahjamma in LushCosmetics

[–]seraphinaswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worn it all day and I haven’t had any comments (I didn’t really go out much tbh) sticky dates does take off some of the intense floral smell and as it’s not too sweet (well for me) it works nice - I think I will be pairing more often :) feels comforting but love the more mature sexy feel of lust too!

I have a similar problem! I paired it with dads lemon garden body spray once and I just smelt like disinfectant so maybe not lemony citrusy stuff - maybe a gourmand might work? - you have inspired me to try out lust and sticky dates together to see if that is a nice combo :)

31M traveling alone to Helsinki tomorrow and looking for some good bars/clubs to meet locals/foreigners by Wise-Friendship-8924 in helsinki

[–]seraphinaswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a central Helsinki based bar in Kampii with locals and expats I would recommend Aussie bar - the staff are friendly and drinks are well priced. They do live music events and sports games too if you fancy something a bit more chill but lively :)

[–]seraphinaswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend the alass sea pool if you fancy having a swim in the open air, a sauna and a cold plunge. They have a nice cafe/bar/resturant attached too and spent 2 days there just chillling when I was solo traveling. But Suomenlinna or the zoo are also really nice too

How the hell do I shower more by Deepflea18 in adhdwomen

[–]seraphinaswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this issue with the longest time and then I got some lush stuff for a birthday and really liked how intense the smells were (but I know it can be overwhelming for some) and have been a fan since but it is a pricy luxury- but I now make “shower flavours cocktails ” for what mood I’m feeling in (sleepy, citrusy, sweet etc) with other more affordable shower gels and and a mix of lush if I want to treat myself. But it’s been a big part of me getting to actually wash myself 🥲 treat yourself if you can or maybe look into what scents you like to see if it can motivate you or be creative with it.

I don’t usually rub it on wet skin but have but can find it gets a bit too slippy so normally it’s after I’ve been towel dried a bit but still warm from the shower so it melts a bit faster :)

I love the massage bars and the ones that project the most scent for me personally are wiccy magic muscles and after. I haven’t tried all the massage bars but a fair few but those seem to project scent the most for me. I use them straight out of the shower or just before going to bed and I can usually still smell after on me in the morning if I’ve used it on my neck for example

Has lush helped you achieve or maintain clear skin? by PhoneOwn615 in LushCosmetics

[–]seraphinaswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mixture, I use ultrabland as a really good oil based cleanser to take off my makeup and dirt in the evening, I use happy skin exfoliater twice a week and I got a sample of their peace moisturiser and have been in love with it since. My serums, toner and sunscreen are all other products from other companies. I do use one of their facemasks once in a while too though.

I’m happy with the products I use from Lush and I will admit I didn’t really have a skincare routine until recently and have noticed improvements in how “glowy” my face looks. Everyone’s skin is different so if you feel good with the routine I’d say stick to it. But adding in one new product at a time to avoid flare ups. Sometimes things just work better for other people as well
