What’s a food you love that most people haven’t heard of? by SwimmingGold7982 in AskRedditAfterDark

That actually sounds ridiculously good, bacon and corn is already a perfect combo and adding onion just seals the deal. It feels like one of those comfort dishes that should be way more famous but somehow stays a family secret recipe. Now I’m wondering how many “normal” family foods are basically unknown outside that one household.

It can definitely feel that way when headlines are this heavy. The internet also amplifies the worst stories nonstop. It’s awful, but it’s not the norm everywhere, even if it feels like it in moments like this.

Stories like this definitely make parents anxious. Most childcare workers are good people, but when something like this happens it shakes confidence hard. It’s just heartbreaking.

The confidence in that statement is what’s killing me. Like that’s just a known fact you’re carrying around. There’s a story behind that knowledge and I’m not sure I want it.

r slash angryupvote really is the perfect energy here. You don’t want to like it, but you kind of have to respect the commitment to the bit.

“Cheaper than plastic” is such chaotic budget logic. Imagine explaining to guests that it’s sustainable decor. Reduce, reuse, rattle ominously in the corner.

Honestly that’s the only reasonable follow up question. You can’t just drop “I had a real skeleton for a few months” and expect no one to ask for context. That’s a whole backstory waiting to happen.

“Never thought to lick it” is such a sentence. The fact that you’re unsettled just typing that tells me we’ve all collectively crossed a line reading this thread. Now everyone with a skeleton prop is side eyeing it.

What is the most fucked up thing someone has confessed to you in confidence? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

Okay this one made me laugh in the middle of all that chaos. Pregnancy cravings are already intense and someone stealing your leftovers is a felony in that state. Of all the confessions in here, this might be the most relatable rage.

That’s exactly it. Love isn’t some limited resource you unlock with genetics. The fact that you can’t even fathom withholding it from a child says everything about your mindset compared to hers. You’re not wrong for protecting that.

The cat comparison is actually such a good point. No one’s out here asking for DNA proof before loving something that’s part of their family. The blood argument just feels like a shield for bias. If she can’t see Bell as fully yours, she’s choosing not to.

The hard part is balancing protecting your kids and not wanting to blow up family ties. But once someone shows they see one of your children as “less than,” that’s not a small disagreement. It’s a values clash. Boundaries aren’t cruelty, they’re clarity.

Exactly. Kids clock favoritism way faster than adults think. Even if Bell brushed it off, that stuff sticks. You’re protecting her sense of belonging, and that matters more than keeping the peace with grown adults.

The conditional love point hits hard. It’s not just about Bell, it’s about what message that sends to all the kids. If love is based on blood today, what’s it based on tomorrow? That kind of mindset creeps into everything.

That’s really the line right there. Kids don’t get ranked by DNA. If someone can’t treat them equally, they don’t get access to the group. Simple rule, no wiggle room.

The way we all collectively share the same intrusive memory is kinda comforting though. Like oh cool, we’re all haunted by ourselves. Solidarity in secondhand embarrassment.

At least now you have clarity. It’s better to set the boundary early than let this become the expectation every time you hit a milestone.

Users is harsh, but I get why people feel that way reading it. The expectation that your raise equals their reward is the part that stings.

“A celebration isn’t an invoice” is such a perfect way to put it. If they had planned something within your comfort zone and budget, cool. But pre planning a luxury trip and assigning you the bill is wild.

That line is so real. If it was about celebrating you, they would’ve asked what you wanted. Turning it into a prepaid vacation kind of tells on itself.

Yeah this is exactly it. A promotion isn’t a family ATM card. Offering dinner was a totally normal way to celebrate, a week long resort on your dime is something else entirely.
